Ruthenia ref edit

Hi, AndyScott. You've just added a reference to the Ruthenia article here. The reference is obscure, particularly as it was written by a Madame Gabor in 1935. Would I be correct in assuming that the source is part of the historical "Ashridge College"? The current Ashridge Journal is a contemporary economics journal. Is there an archived version (online) I could use in order to verify the content. Thanks! --Iryna Harpy (talk) 04:46, 30 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Laurie Scott Baker edit

Hello AndyScott,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Laurie Scott Baker for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Speedy deletion nomination of Laurie Scott Baker edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Laurie Scott Baker requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://www.composer.co.uk/Composers/baker.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 13:40, 28 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Ways to improve Fred Viner edit

Hi, I'm Nick Moyes. AndyScott, thanks for creating Fred Viner!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. I nearly converted this new page to a draft because of its total lack of any references to support what you wrote. Please address this important issue as soon as possible.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, AndyScott. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Laurie Scott Baker, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. If, as you assert, you have known him since you took this photograph of him in 1969, you are surely too close to him to be entirely neutral – and indeed, the article shows all the expected signs of conflict-of-interest editing. Please don't copy material from elsewhere online, not even in sandboxes or drafts edit

Hello. I am Diannaa and I am a Wikipedia administrator. Prose you find online is almost always copyright, and cannot be copied here, not even into sandboxes or drafts, not even temporarily for editing. It's against the copyright policy of this website to do so. All prose you add to Wikipedia must be written in your own words right from the first edit. Please do your amendments before you save the page, or use an external editor such as Microsoft Word or Google docs prior to publication on Wikipedia. The Wikipedia copyright policy and its application are complex matters, and you should not edit any more until you have taken the time to read and understand our copyright policy. There's a simplified version of our copyright rules at Wikipedia:FAQ/Copyright.

That said, I have deleted your sandbox, as the current version is a violation of our copyright policy (copied from https://taking-stock.org.uk/building/notting-hill-st-francis-of-assisi/). Previous revisions of the sandbox were also deleted as spot checks reveal similar problems throughout the page's history. Please let me know if you have any questions.— Diannaa (talk) 13:45, 9 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

I have also done some copyright cleanup on your recent article creations Our Lady Queen of Peace and Blessed Margaret Pole and John Donald Currey. — Diannaa (talk) 14:14, 9 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Article on Arthur Lewis Jenkins edit

Thank you for the article on Arthur Lewis Jenkins. I added the grave picture I took back in 2010. I hope that is useful. Carcharoth (talk) 23:17, 20 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. What is your interest in Arthur Lewis Jenkins? AndyScott (talk) 15:18, 22 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
The interest came from me writing the article The Muse in Arms. I then realised he was buried in a cemetery local to me in London, and I went to locate and photograph his grave. I hadn't realised his sister was buried next to him, and also died at a young age (I see you went and took photos of the other family graves on 24 December a few days ago). I have also read a bit about the wider family, both his father (who you mention in the article, but who pre-deceased him) and his brothers Evan and David (who have articles) but know less about Joyce, John and Owain (who only died in 1996 and was Director of Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation). There is a fascinating account of Owain here. I might be able to get a photo of Sussex House as well (though it appears to have been redeveloped, unless it is this one in Hammersmith: Sussex House?) Thanks. Yes, I found him through The Muse in Arms and then was interested in his sister. Elinor's poetry is available on various web sites now but his poems are not. AndyScott (talk) 21:27, 27 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
