Invitation to event: bot, template, and Gadget makers wantedEdit

I thought you might want to know about some upcoming MediaWiki & Wikimedia developers' events (such as the Berlin hackathon in June), where you can learn more about MediaWiki customization and development, extending functionality with JavaScript, the future of mw:ResourceLoader and Gadgets, the new Lua templating system, how to best use the web API for bots, and various upcoming features and changes. We'd love to have power users, bot maintainers and writers, and template makers at these events so we can all learn from each other and chat about what needs doing. Best wishes! - Sumana Harihareswara, Wikimedia Foundation's Volunteer Development Coordinator Sumanah (talk) 14:09, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

By the way, travel subsidies will be available, in case that helps -- feel free to contact me about them! Sumana Harihareswara, Wikimedia Foundation Volunteer Development Coordinator 03:03, 12 March 2012 (UTC)

April 2017Edit

Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing an article on Wikipedia, you will see a small field labeled "Edit summary" shown under the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing →   Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! oknazevad (talk) 04:00, 23 April 2017 (UTC)

I noticed you are a beginner-level JavaScript programmer...Edit

I found you listed at Category:User js-1 (probably because you posted the corresponding userbox on your user page), and thought you might be interested in improving your skills by getting involved with developing user scripts, hobnobbing with other JavaScript programmers, and organizing and improving JavaScript articles and support pages.

We do all of that and more at the JavaScript WikiProject.

Scripts undergoing development, and the state of JavaScript on Wikipedia, are discussed on the talk page.

For an overview of JavaScript coverage on Wikipedia, see Draft:Outline of JavaScript and Index of JavaScript-related articles. For everything on user scripts, see User:The Transhumanist/Outline of scripts.

The WikiProject also organizes every resource it can find about JavaScript out there, such as articles, books, tutorials, etc. See our growing Reference library.

If you would like to join the JavaScript WikiProject, feel free to add your name to the participants list.

Hope to see you there! The Transhumanist 15:52, 12 May 2017 (UTC)

AXN (Australia)Edit

G'day,

Was just wondering why you removed my speedy deletion tag from the article? It did eventually get deleted for WP:CSD#A1 anyway, removing the CSD tag just it take longer to get deleted. If someone has re-created an article that has been deleted before, just tag it with {{salt}} so it gets protected from creation. — IVORK Discuss 08:31, 11 August 2017 (UTC)

@IVORK: Hi, maybe it wasn't the ideal course of action, but I had my reasons.
  • Firstly, I wanted to make sure the deletion took place, since the author of that article has the awful habit of removing all the tags at the top of his (her?) articles. By having a separate discussion thread, I made sure that the admins would still be on the case if that happened. Sometimes it can take several hours/days until someone notices and reverts.
  • I wanted to point out that Plantom Hunter disrespected the community's decision by re-creating the article right away, with no explanation.
On the other hand, I didn't know about {{salt}}, so thanks for telling me about it. —  Andreyyshore  T  C  09:57, 11 Aug 2017 (UTC)

Romanian Top 100Edit

Hi there! I'm the main editor of articles surrounding the topic named above, and I want to thank you for your work on finding new info I couldn't find on the number ones in 2006/7. Please tell me when you're finished with your edits, so that I can take a look at the article and fix things that need to be fixed after your edits. Best; Cartoon network freak (talk) 18:22, 12 June 2018 (UTC)

Sunt si eu roman, btw... ;) Cartoon network freak (talk) 20:10, 12 June 2018 (UTC)
@Cartoon network freak: (Știu, cred că te-am mai văzut editând articolul despre România la Eurovision anul ăsta 😉)
I think I'm done with those years, and 2008 as well. As you can see, there used to be a subpage that showed all 100 songs in the chart. That subpage also used to contain a column named "lw" (last week), which I used in order to determine which songs were number one the previous week in case no other data was available. Unfortunately, midway through June 2008, they stopped updating the website, until July 2010.
One example of using the "last week" column is the second time "Smack That" topped the chart (26 February – 4 March 2007). I couldn't find an archive from that week, but I used the 5–12 March chart, where it says that the song was in 1st place the previous week. —  Andreyyshore  T  C  00:13, 13 Jun 2018 (UTC)
