Merge proposal: incorporated place and census designated place into place (United States Census Bureau)

While caught up in the argument about whether we should use the term "census designated place" as the primary term to refer to unincorporated towns and villages I did a bit of research. I think what I found was interesting and useful. However I found it awkward to incorporate the information into the census designated place article, partly because the material also belongs in the incorporated place article. Also, a lot of the CDP article explains how a CDP resembles, but is not, an incorporated place where the incorporated place article is practically empty. I don't think there is enough unique material for three separate articles so I'm proposing a merger into one article named "place (United States Census Bureau)". I have already written the article that explains the terms in a logical order. I am asking for opinions, edits, etc. from other people who have written on the issue. re:Userify Tiquan Underwood

I'm not sure I understand why the article was deleted, but could I ask you to create a user version of the article for me so that I can address the wikifying and reference issues that seem sto have been the reason for deletion. It was a one-liner, "Tiquan Underwood is the star wide receiver on the Rutgers University Football Team." That's all. It was tagged as {{db-bio}}, but it could have been under A1 or A3 as well (lack of context/content). He might be notable, but it needs a little more info on why. I did not "vandalize" the Gary Whiteside page. He is not a notable person. I attempted to delete the page. I am committed to Wikipedia as an engine of integrity, but obviously I am not yet well-versed in the technical aspects of contributing. I will brush up. In the meantime, I suggest reconsidering your claim that deleting a page of someone who is not noteworthy by any definition constitutes vandalism.

Just wanted to check with you to see whether you thought the NY Times graphic that recreates Corzine's accident on the GSP should be included on the page. Middle Township Mock Trial

Dear Alansohn, My name is Jake Vhabae, and I'm a former member of the Middle Township Mock Trial team. I am originally from Belleplain, NJ and I have spent 3 of my 4 high school years at Middle Township High School.

I have since updated the MTHS site, put a list of team members (both past and present) and I have noticed that they have been removed.

As I understand it, the reason for the removal is due to the claim that the names and team member list are "unencyclopedic." I disagree with that claim, I believe that if the "Guns N' Roses" Wikipedia site can have a list of members, the all too academic MTHS Mock Trial site should also have a list of members.

Sir, this is very important to me. I would appreciate it if we could talk more about this matter. I feel that our conflict can be resolved, as I have verification of all names on the list. I can also verify through Ms. Martina Trapani (the team's head coach). Being from New Jersey, you know how close-knit we are. We show school spirit. This Mock Trial team has only strengthened the Middle Township community. I ask you to let the MTHS Mock Trial team members recieve the recogniton they deserve.

If I may, I think the reason Alansohn may have done this is not because he doesn't consider it significant, but Wikipedia considers it insignificant, per WP:NOTABLE. Wikipedia is not a place to give merit, an award, or other congratulatory recognition; it is a place where the world can go for encyclopedic information. Just like your Mock Trial team wouldn't be in the Encarta online encyclopedia, so too should it not be allowed here. Also, using the comparison of Grammy-winning artists that are known across the world is not an acceptable comparison. Most people outside of South Jersey wouldn't even know where Middle Township is, and even less people would care who is on their Mock Trial team. I don't mean to sound berating, but you have to realize it truly is not noteworthy and nothing more than a waste of space. If you wish to dispute this, Alansohn can't do anything about it; you would need to take it before the Policies Committee, who will then determine if this is, in fact, notable for use on Wikipedia. • If you feel that your contribution to Wikipedia is to remove links to school districts from high school articles, I will point out that its clear to me that these links "are specifically related to the article topic", though I will acknowledge that an argument could be made that the links are not necessary. However, the links to the New Jersey School Report Cards and the data from the National Center for Education Statistics are directly relevant to each and every school and there is no valid justification for their removal. • Less than 1% of my total edits under all accounts have anything to do with schools, let alone their external links. The proper external link for the third one in the list (nces.ed.gov), for example, would be specific to the school, NOT the district-wide one. Following your argument, http://www.usa.gov/ would be 'specifically relevant' to every U.S. city, U.S. county, U.S. state, etc., article on Wikipedia. Other than in-line cites, there is hardly ever a reason for any specific external link to appear in more than one Wikipedia article--only the specific one they are most directly related to. I looked, really I did

I wanted to make sure that things were different this time around. They weren't. For the most part, only the Atlantic City area papers had any mention of the Freeholders involved in AfD discussions. In some cases, even that wasn't the case. County officeholders who don't achieve notice outside the county are simply not notable enough.

Regarding Corzine's residence

While I agree that Corzine's city of residence is worth including in the article, the Drumthwacket article claims that Corzine lives there part-time, implying that he splits his time between the official mansion in Princeton and, presumably, a private residence in Hoboken. If he does not, in fact, live part-time at Drumthwacket, that article ought to be fixed. However, if he does split his time between the two residences, this fact ought to be included in any reference to his residences in the Jon Corzine article. However, if we change the sentence in the introductory paragraph to reflect this information, it makes the statement rather unwieldy. I would therefore suggest that we keep the residence reference, but relocate it to some other position within the article, thereby allowing the introductory paragraph to flow more smoothly. Speaking as one who is not a resident of New Jersey, I am curious as to why it is so significant that he lives and spends substantial amounts of time in Hoboken? Obviously, of course, one would think that he, as governor, ought to spend a fair amount of time in the state capital (whenever he isn't busy settling disputes between talk-show hosts and basketball teams), as well as spend time in various cities throughout the state he is supposed to govern. Schools and notability

Namaste Alansohn,

I went to the WP:NOTE talk pages and read the two old discussions regarding trying to set notability guidelines for schools, its not very encouraging. This seems to be a battleground for the Inclusionistas and Deletionieros and neither side seems willing to give any ground. I have to say that I would probably be considered a running-dog Deletionist. I think there are many things that are verifiable and sourcable, perhaps even notable, but are just not encyclopedic. There is the whole rest of the web out there, isn't there?

But...The greatest thing I learned in college was when I was arguing an obscure point on a test question I had gotten wrong on some minor point relating to the Kreb's cycle (relates to energy creation and use in cell metabolism). The instructor let me go on for a while and answered my points and then said, Bill, is this the hill you want to die on?"

Well, I looked at her for a moment and then felt rather stupid and said, "No," and she said, "Very well then, lets move on."

She meant it in a joking way and it wasn't at all a putdown. She was a great teacher and we became friends after the class was over, but I never forgot that question.

When my daughter was in her pre- and teens there were times when she wanted to dye her hair green or do her school shopping at Goodwill and wear polyester Marcia Brady shifts or three full-length black slips to school or make soup out of one of every vegetable from the Albertson's and I would think, "Is this the hill I want to die on?" and decide that no, it wasn't.

Really Bad News friends? Riding with people who have been drinking? Yeah, I'll die on those hills, but few others are worth the fight. I was a single parent and I credit that teacher with my sanity and Amelia's unique perfection.

I bring all this up because I see so much time and energy being wasted over this debate and whatever I think about it, this hill is not worth dying on. I also feel that the issue is hindering the advancement of civility here, and if I have any ulterior motive, for this or WP as a whole, the promotion of civility is it.

I am thinking about proposing that all schools be considered notable, subject only to verifiability and as far as I'm concerned, a phone book entry would be sufficient.

You've been around awhile, certainly longer than me, so I want to ask you if you think there is a snowball's chance of this being accepted. I think the inclusionists have an advantage in this battle and the fact that 85% of the school AfD's are resulting in keep seems to show a broad consensus in general, if not in every case.

If you feel this worth persuing or have any other thoughts on the matter, let me know. If I do persue it I would like to have a group of people from both sides onboard to launch the proposal. I'm not trying to stack the vote, I just don't want to fight old battles over again.

I'm going to post this to a few other talk pages to get an idea of what the mood is out there.

Excuse me, but watch the allegations of sockpuppetry. I have been going through the AfD page and noticed some articles that I wanted to vote on. If you have a problem with it, like you seem to do with other editors that disagree with you, then I guess that's too bad. I think you would understand my harsh tone here as allegations of sockpuppetry are a serious matter so before you jump to conclusions, get your facts straight. Oh so now I am not a sockpuppet??? You make the allegation and then take it back? I have over 3500 edits, the majority being vandalism reverts so I see no reason why you find the need to consider me a sockpuppet or that I am stalking. I have stated on the AfDs why I voted for deletions. Many editors put "per nom" as they simply agree with the nominator and does not find the need to write out the same response. It is by chance that you happen to have voted on those AfDs as well. You know that I have an issue with school articles as we have bumped heads on a prior school AfD a few weeks ago so I don't see what your problem is. As for the Frank Finnerty article, I found that one of the AfD main page and thought it was a ludicrous article. Again, watch your allegations as I am a productive editor. My communication with RGTraynor

This editor was an involved participant in the relevant AfD discussions the day I initiated them. In fact, he was the first respondent to any of them. I felt contacting him was warranted because he had already commented on the subject. A different set of eyes may see things in ways neither of us may have thought of. As it stands now, it's not much more than the two of us going around in circles. With that, there can be no winners, but only exhausted and disillusioned participants.

Canvassing or not canvassing

WP:CANVAS says this:

"A hard and fast rule does not exist with regard to selectively notifying certain editors who have or are thought to have a predetermined point of view on their talk pages in order to influence a vote. However, the greater the number of editors contacted, the more often this behavior is engaged in, and the greater the resulting disruption, the more likely it is that this behavior will result in warnings and/or sanctions. Some Wikipedians have suggested that informing editors on all "sides" of a debate (e.g., everyone who voted in a previous AfD on a given subject) may be acceptable.

The Arbitration Committee has ruled that "[t]he occasional light use of cross-posting to talk pages is part of Wikipedia's common practice. However, excessive cross-posting goes against current Wikipedia community norms. In a broader context, it is unwiki. "1. Wikipedia editors are therefore not to engage in aggressive cross-posting in order to influence votes, discussions, requests for adminship, requests for comment, etc."

I fail to see how contacting one or two people who are already actively involved in the current round of discussions would be considered 'excessive'.

I have posted word for word the position of the Arbitration Committee with regard to what is or is not canvassing. I've done so twice over. In the eyes of the Committee, contacting two people currently involved in related discussions, although definitely not endorsed, most certainly do not rise to the level of the accusations you are now throwing around.

I believe I have acted in good faith by respectfully disagreeing, but refraining from contacting anyone else all the same. There is truly no good reason for you to continue to pursue this angle. DarkAudit 04:27, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Changing the playing field

I went to #wikipedia, just as I said I would. I asked that the AfD's be closed as is, and that I was not asking for any endorsement either way. The solution they came up with was to relist them instead. That means they'll show up on today's list of AfD's. As for me, I'm staying out of it from this point. I may peek in to see how the discussion's going, but I've said all I really can about the matter.

Civility and Good Faith

Alan, some advice: you need to tone things down a bit. Your accusations of vote stacking, poor faith, and sock-puppetry have become a bit wanton and it seems to be too often your recourse with people who disagree with you. I recall certain other unfounded instances as well when you made such baseless accusations. Remember to assume good faith and recall that, despite your passion to convince, some editors will inevitably be in disagreement with you. I suggest you moderate your comments, although I wouldn't want you to diminish the enthusiasm with which you argue your beliefs. Eusebeus 23:32, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

• Sockpuppetry was based on a misreading of an individual's contribution history, but the votestacking was rather clear-cut. The sequence of AfDs submitted by the user in question was in most cases his third attempt to delete these articles, most of which ended in rather one-sided decisions to keep the articles in question. Even you might acknowledge that the same person taking multiple cracks at deleting articles that passed previous AfDs is not exactly cricket. Other than that, I will try to take your advice to heart. Taking a second, and then a third, crack at deleting an article is evidence of rather extreme bad faith. I was glad to see that you have found topics that you feel comfortable editing, instead of almost exclusively passing judgment on AfDs. While the topics you appear to be editing are likely to be almost AfD-proof, the day will come when the first article you've worked on is put for AfD. It'll happen sooner or later. Its amazing what happens when an article you've invested much time and effort in is subject to review by a bunch of people who spend most of their time on Wikipedia voting delete on articles that don't interest them but who seem to get much delight from getting rid of your article. Marlboro Township School District

Stoopid Monkey Logos

As you are probably aware, the Stoop!d Monkey page was the subject of an AfD and the result was, of course, "Keep". Currently, the logos are a point of contention with myself saying that they were part of the "Keep", while User:Calton saying they were to be dropped and the article was to remain.

I asked the admin who closed the AfD his opinion and he replied, "I just said the article was to be kept, I don't know about the logos". There wasn't a decision given on the logos and in the AfD only 3 users said the logos should go, only 1 said keep the article, lose the logos.

I am not sure how to handle this, but since the admin who closed the AfD made no decision and the AfD wasn't about the logos in the first place (and the majority said to keep the logos if you want to be picky about it, as far as I can tell).

This wasn't an issue from April 16th (immediately after the AfD) to May 3rd when User:Calton realized that I was blocked for 48hours (not related to this) and I couldn't revert his changes. User:Calton had no interest and made no changes on the page itself or the talk page during that time. So, to me, his initial revert on May 3rd was done because of my block.

I have asked two admins (in case one is offline) to revert his changes and put a block on the page until this can be worked out. I am also asking you, since you contributed to the AfD, what your opinion is on just the logos themselves. I appericate you input one way or the other. Thanks...SVRTVDude ^(VT)

• Unfortunately, I have never been able to find a reliable source online. The best sources I have found in print are the "New Jersey Legislative Data Book" and "The New Jersey Municipal Data book", both of which are published annually and available in most libraries in New Jersey. The answer to the previous question about faulkner law act was not to helpful. I have ordered the books and cannot find that Harrison is a Faulkner Law act. I want to take advantage of the right to citizens and need o prove to my governing body hat they are aFaulkner Law act. I believe that Eminent Domain Abuse should be stopped. I believe that Harrisonians feel the same. I am willing to let the people vote. I have a petition to pass a resoulution to stop it, but some help would be like a blessing from God.

Multi-column support

Dear Alan—I'm sorry that you've reacted negatively to my review of the writing in the nomination. Perhaps I was a little blunt; I suppose some of my stock statements come from having nominators treat prose reviews half-heartedly or from those who feel that merely correcting the examples is enough. My remarks weren't intended to be soft and polite, but I meant no snideness or derision. When you nominated it, I presume you were prepared to have your work picked over and criticised; after all, you're seeking a gold-star endorsement of it.

You should have little trouble finding good copy-editors to lend fresh eyes to the text. You've worked hard to bring it to nomination, so it's worth enlisting others to use their distance from the text productively. I'd be doing that myself if I'd nominated an article. Daniel S. Nevins

I am disturbed and disappointed by your decision to summarily delete the Daniel S. Nevins article. The first sentence of the article makes the rather explicit claim of notability as "Dean of the Rabbinical School of the Jewish Theological Seminary". A click on that article would have indicated that the school is one of the primary rabbinic seminaries of the Conservative Judaism movement and a school affiliated with Columbia University. The proffered explanation of WP:CSD#A7 is unacceptable given the explicit claim of notability and the breadth and content of the article. There were no 3rd party reliable sources to substantiate his notability as required by the Wikipedia:Notability (people) guidelines. A "personal website" link is insufficient in this regard. The article was also part of a series of biographies all started and mostly written by User:Rabbijason who made substantial Wikipedia:Conflict of interest violations including authoring his own autobiography at Jason A. One would assume that, as an administrator, you would be familiar with the various mechanisms that exists to request the addition of sources. Again, and as you have ignored, the article you took it upon yourself to delete made explicit claims of notability, in complete contradiction to your improper and destructive use of WP:CSD#A7 as a rather poor excuse for deletion. I find it disappointing that you are hiding behind the Wikipedia:Deletion review process, rather than revisiting and undoing the damage you have caused. I don't know who this user is, have never interacted with him and do not know who he is in real life. I didn't delete this article, you did. This and other deletions were somehow intended to cleanse Wikipedia of any articles that this user had contact with. There is the alternative possibility that among all his edits, there might have been some legitimate edits. A check of the links to this now defunct article supports the claims of notability, including providing sources to his background, especially at the Frisch School article, where I had added a reliably sourced article that clearly demonstrates notability. I will again ask you to take a look at the article and those items that link to it and see if there just might justification for keeping this article, despite the fact that you see issues with its creator. Your efforts in doing this review and recreating the article will undo the damage created by the deletion of the article. Do you even attend the high school? Honestly, I cannot stand it when people who don't go there or haven't gone there start editing things. There are a bunch of us who actually go there who look after the page, so stop trying to fix things that you don't know about.

AfD

It was a very difficult decision in closing the nom, and after re-evaluating the discussion, I will have to (with some reluctancy) say the result was no consensus. Here's why:

• A very similar discussion (that has even been suggested to be merged into the AfD we are discussing) resulted in a delete, and you can see the clear consensus to do so. I considered some of the merit discussed there and applied those arguments into my decision.
• Although there was a higher count of keep's over deletes, both sides had strong arguments. As much as possible, I try not to count, but rather see the arguments first.
• A "no consensus" result means simply that there has been no concrete decision made. A no consensus result more than one time in the past suggests that no matter how many times an AfD is filed, there will always be strong feelings on both sides to the argument, and will never reach outright consensus. This may be a place for policy, in which specific guidelines can be determined, rather than discussion, where users can interpret what they believe from policy that may be too broad of a scope.

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/WCBS-TV News Team

I read your comment on the AfD, and I disagree with it. Please explain how you feel the page should remain when, as was mentioned, this info was originally in the main WCBS-TV article and should be restored there. As a separate article, its scope is limited to only those who care about who's doing or who's done news on channel 2 (a very small group) and not to the whole Wiki-comminity.

And, furthermore, please explain your comment "Any AfD that uses the word 'cruft', or any form thereof as an excuse for deletion ought to be retained for that reason alone." Jurassic Park IV

No offence, but your lengthy conversation about the articles deletion is really cluttering the page, and I suggest talking perhaps on the other Users talk page that you seem to be discussing with, or perhaps directly tell me what problem you have with my nomination.

And like I said earlier, part of the reason for my AFD was I also previously created the Jurassic Park franchise article, and so the film article could then be deleted and a footnote about the film and its possible creation could be added there if necessary. Rodrigue 19:53, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Jurassic park

Firstly, you do realize that this is by no means the frist article to be nominated for AFd more than once,right?And if there was such a strong consensus to keep as you said about the other AFd, then why do alot of people now seem to want to delete or merge the article?

And I also spoke to User:Night Gyr on the matter, and he agreed with me as well that there are infact no real policies regarding double jeopardy on wikipedia like I said, and simply renominating a page doesn't mean I violated Wikipedia:Consensus unless I had clear bad intension.So what I did is no different from other pages that have been renominated as well. Terminator 4

You know Jurassic Park IV is very much the same as Terminator 4, which was also deleted after several AFDs and for the same reason I nominated Jurassic Park IV, Wikipedia is not a Crystal Ball.

I do not want to engage in another argument over the links found on a number of baseball articles. That being said, the B-R bullpen is a wiki and not considered a reliable source. In WP:EL#Links normally to be avoided, it clearly states: "Links to open wikis, except those with a substantial history of stability and a substantial number of editors." B-R bullpen seems to fail on both accounts. However, if you find some good information there, I would encourage you to include that information on the relevant wikipedia article and find the original source for that information. //Tecmobowl 03:05, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

As stated in the edit summary, and despite your claim, the B-R bullpen satisfies WP:EL. You have not even bothered to provide an excuse for deletion of the fangraphs link. Unless you can demonstrate that you have convinced the relevant editors that these links should not be used, the status quo dictates that they remain as is. Your persistent insistence to impose you own arbitrary views, here and elsewhere, and to refuse to comply with efforts to reach consensus, are going to place you at substantial risk of Wikipedia sanctions. I have spent an extensive amount of time discussing this matter. In reading the comments on BR Bullpen, most people HAVE agreed that it does not satisfy the requirements laid out in WP:EL. It is a wiki, it does not seem to be stable, and it does not seem to have a tremendous number of users. With regards to fangraphs, it is a site that has been spammed by essentially on or two users. So far, the best argument for its' inclusion in the external link section is that people can look at graphs. While this is something to be considered, at this time, it is simply duplicate information that can be found on a number of other sites that are more widely used. I am all for a general consensus, I am not for a concensus generated by two or three people who clearly have an agenda (i am not including you in this). But these same people have insisted on the removal of unique links from Shoeless Joe Jackson and a number of other places. //Tecmobowl 03:18, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

I appreciate the heads up on the 3rr. I'm having a difficult time following the objectives of wikipedia when users like Epeefelche refuse to follow guidelines. Much like the earlier statements i left here, I think the biggest problem is that he and the other editor most in support of the fangraphs site have spread the discussion to so many places, it is hard to follow. I don't know who has seen what and who i told what to. At this point, i think if i get banned, then so be it. Category problem

• You had me baffled. I looked at the user article and there were no categories?!?!? Until I checked the history, and saw that you had answered your own question. I was actually really surprised by the Coleman Square article - that square was, well, laughable. Originally the Howard Beach article actually stated commuters were spending the $10 to take the air train from JFK during layovers to visit the shops at Coleman Square. If that was the case, there must be quite a few disappointed layovers. I added the photos to the articles because I figured, "Why not?" but conceivably Hawtree Creek could be merged -- I didn't put a tag on it because I wondered if the creek itself might be notable; probably not. But I had no qualms with the notability tag for Coleman Square. I'd merge myself, but I'm officially on Wikivaction and trying to keep my edits low. List of city nicknames in the United States

I am aware that the list was cluttered by the fact tag additions; that was the point. Putting all those tags on might convince a few people to actually go through and REFERENCE the stuff already there, and might cause one or two people who would otherwise throw something up to look for a cite. The list is a nice concept, but it's been smothered in slobber. I'll wait a week and strip out every single unreferenced claim on that page. In contrast to NYC, "The city that never sleeps", there is Jersey City, NJ, or any other NJ suburb of NYC that you want to pick on: "The city that never sweeps." Yes, I was more than a little abrupt in my first comment, for which I apologize. That list got me a little exercised, and your reversion (while certainly justifiable) prompted me to vent. I was wrong.

When I went through and tagged, I was somewhat selective, believe it or not; I skipped well-known (yet unsourced) names such as "Hotlanta", "Chi-Town", and "City by the Bay". I deleted "First Coast" from Jacksonville when I encountered it because it is the name for the entire region, not just the city. (Look at the last comment in the WikiProject Florida page; it's from me, and it discusses the First Coast region, among others. I am familiar with Florida--grin.) I also deleted at least one BLP-vio nickname (which is probably back because of the revert; I haven't checked). A lot of the nicknames that aren't sourced at this point will never be sourced, which is why a thorough housecleaning is in order. Horologium t-c 03:48, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Clayton HS

Hey Alansohn I noticed you're the one who created most of the South Jersey high school pages. However, there is no Clayton High School page. When I searched for it the closest thing that came up was Clayton Middle/High School which has no official page. Is there any way that you can delete that and create "Clayon High School (New Jersey)"? I feel that the "Middle" in "Middle/High School" is unnecessary...if anything it could be Clayton Junior-Senior High School like you did for Woodbury's page. Thanks for the encouraging message. Morgan Wick obviously has a vendetta against either you or Clayton Middle/High School. Perhaps she is the one who initially created it and got it deleted and now she is feeling resentful? As you noticed Morgan tried to claim that we were "promoting" Woodbury High School's page as soon as I mentioned in the CHS talkpage that I like to edit it. She is seriously demented and obviously rides power trips via friggin' wikipedia. People like you (and me I suppose) try to give things time, let them develop (which it would have) and do corrections/additions with good intentions and progressiion in mind. I like to hop around all the South Jersey high schools and add little factoids and/or links here and there whenever I find them, but people like Morgan hate that apparently. I'm not from Clayton nor do I have any true relations with the city or high school, but I can guarantee that as time passed I would be contributing whatever I could when I find it (as will be the case with all the other high schools). Hopefully it stays on wikipedia, but if not, we tried. By the way, I did create two entries: Dave Budd and H. Browning Ross (Woodbury grads of course), but I only knew how to do that because a user named Geniac helped me when I asked him how to do it. My revert was inadvertent and automatic - I always separately categorize non-graduates. I didn't see that you had included her until after I made the change yesterday.

I don't understand why it is important to lump Ricci, who may have never even attended Morristown-Beard, in with true diploma holding alumni. Having her recognized is nice, I suppose, but alumnae? Preston High School

You've done a better job on the article than the people of Preston County have in maintaining the schools themselves. I don't have links, but the The Dominion Post (Morgantown) had pictures last week of the condition of one of the middle schools. A damaged chimney necessitated a closure, but the school was in a very sorry state already. The voters of Preston County have not had a good record when it comes to school bond issues. The bios you wanted to keep here (James William McGhee and Maria Hart) still have no hint of evidence of notability, and are mostly unsourced, written by a relative; and still have obvious COI issue like the one you voted to delete. Clayton High School

Yes, we have problems with CSD and nominating things too fast, and improving articles under time pressure--its a conflict between not catching junk fast enough and giving good articles time to develop, and I agree that the current balance is not very satisfactory. Finding practical ways to change it is not all that easy, and new ideas are very welcome. But for the moment, this article does not have enough content and this makes it unkeepable--and of course it will need references also, and for local schools that's usually harder. If you cant fix it quickly, why not let it be deleted, and if you can find enough material, then write it again--but if its not improved, people do notice. And there is no point in teasing your opponents--it's too easy. Just let him be and write a good article, whenever. DGG 06:45, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your work on the Stanley Jefferson article. I'm sorry if I reverted some of your edits. Please accept my apologies, as this was done inadvertently. I ran into a lot of editing conflicts while editing this article, as we were probably making edits simultaneously! I'd like to ask you to help me make sure that the photo of Mr. Jefferson which I added to the article is not deleted by Wikipedia for "copyright infringement". Re: schools

Thanks for your note. I've admired the work you've done at AfD:Schools, too (and especially the improvements you've made to school articles). I think ultimately the best thing we can do is make our arguments in the deletion discussions and, when we have some support, get enough support to change WP:ORG or WP:N to recognize that high schools, like hospitals and communities, are just inherently notable. A while back, we seem to have had more support for that (although I could be wrong, I think the current group of people at the deletion discussions is less supportive). I think when we gather enough support again, we should make that move, and I'll contact you when the time seems ripe.

Too often, I let arguments on Wikipedia get under my skin. I think we should both be careful of that, because we're more likely to garner support over time if we avoid it. I have to say though, you were baited (purposefully or not) with that three-minute deletion. I do think that our position is the way Wikipedia is trending over time, in fact, I think it's inevitable that as Wikipedia grows, all high schools and most other schools will have their own articles. I see you reverted one of his many recent deletions of links. Having now been proven by a second checkuser to have used User:El redactor as a block-evading sockpuppet, he has basically gone ape, throwing the f-word at admins and me and so on.
