A request edit

I have seen your submissions to WP:AFC and WP:AFC/R for quite a while now, and you seem as though you are a few steps above the regular anonymous contributor. It would be fantastic if you would create an account; if you did so, then I would be able to properly thank you. If you did this, it would also make it so that you could create all of these redirects that you keep discovering, and other people wouldn't have to go through and create every one of them, and I would love to not be needing to create your massive requests, as you can probably understand. :) So I ask you this: Why have you not created an account, when many other editors have asked you to? A category has been created of your various IPs just to keep track of you; if people think that your contributions are this valuable, why have you not just created an account? It would make many people extremely happy. ~~ Hi878 (Come shout at me!) 05:37, 25 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

I used to create those redirects myself, before Wikipedia removed page creation access from IP users... I don't think Wikipedia's restrictions on IP users are as yet onerous enough to make having an account a need. 76.66.194.212 (talk) 10:23, 25 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

And just so you know, most of that was meant as sarcasm hiding compliments. I realize that that may not quite be easily understood.. :P ~~ Hi878 (Come shout at me!) 05:41, 25 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

I think that there is an entire branch of AfC devoted to you. Were you to create an account today, several members of the AfC team would vouch for getting you confirmed and autoreviewed as soon as possible. That means that no one could stand in between you and your quest, which as far as I can tell, is to single-handedly contribute more to to Wikipedia's coverage of Astronomy than any other editor ever has, or ever will :) ... Please consider it. Sven Manguard Talk 06:01, 25 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
I'm pretty sure there are several astronomy-related editors with more extensive contributions. After the restriction on IP page creation, the number of articles I created dropped, and I more or less stopped building the category trees. That just left fewer stubs being created though, and I end up suggesting trees at various wikiprojects instead of building them. 76.66.194.212 (talk) 10:23, 25 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
I echo Sven's statement. You do wonderful work, and are one of the best content creators on Wikipedia, in my opinion. By creating a account you would be able to create articles yourself. After lengthy discussion in IRC, we decided to try and ask you to create a account, just one last time. I hope this doesn't seem like nagging, we really want to help you. If you say no we won't ask again. Best, --Alpha Quadrant talk 06:25, 25 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Though I don't think I am one of the best content creators on Wikipedia, just rather experienced in how to put together an article. 76.66.194.212 (talk) 10:23, 25 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

As I've said previously, I currently do not see the need to have an account, as yet. Being able to create pages myself... well, yes, that would be useful, as I used to be able to do that as an IP-editor before the ban came down. Being able to upload images... that would have been useful last year when I was updating those SVG flu maps for Swine Flu, but it seemed to work OK through WP:IFU... As Wikipedia's restrictions on IP-users grow more onerous, perhaps there will be a point in the future where I would reconsider that. 76.66.194.212 (talk) 10:23, 25 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Well, drop me a line if you ever need something at FFU (formerly IFU,) as I'm one of the few regulars there. Alpha and Delta race each other for AfC/R, so I've stopped even trying there... :) Keep up the good work, no matter no form you choose to identify yourself with.
