August 2014 edit

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to United States Department of Agriculture may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Your recent edits edit

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (  or  ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 14:01, 22 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link notification for August 25 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

VOA template edit

Hi 1999sportsfan and welcome to Wikipedia. I've reverted your addition of the VOA userpage template as placing it would give them a badge of honour and not deny recognition. Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 11:16, 27 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Callanecc, sorry, I was unaware of this policy of denying recognition to vandals. I thought that this template would make it easier for users to identify accounts blocked as vandalism-only account. 1999sportsfan (talk) 11:34, 27 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
No worries, if you're looking from a way to identify blocked users give User:NuclearWarfare/Mark-blocked script.js a go. Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 11:37, 27 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hinduism edit

Our article on Hinduism states "Hinduism is a diverse system of thought with beliefs spanning monotheism, polytheism, panentheism, pantheism, pandeism, monism, and atheism among others". We can't choose one of those to define it, so I've removed the polytheistic religion bit and corrected the grammar ("the Hindusim". Please don't reinsert it. Thanks. Your comments at AN/I edit

Hi, I hope you don't mind me contacting you directly at your Talk page. You recently made a comment at AN/I on my Topic Ban appeal. I'm surprised you Opposed it, I haven't run into you before and you are only recently registered. Can you tell me why you believe the Topic Ban shouldn't be lifted at this stage? I've acknowledged the behavioral issues and addressed them, and it is normal that after a period of time has passed, the editor will be allowed a chance and the Topic Ban lifted. I've spent the best part of 3 years under the Topic Ban and while it has been lifted previously only for it to be reimposed (a number of times), the "disruption" that people refer to isn't that the edits themselves were bad (vast majority are acknowledge as being good edits), but that the edits triggered disruption from a sock whenever anyone edits "British Isles" topics. I doubt that you've looked at this situation in detail since it spans many years, but if you've any questions you'd like to ask, or if there's anything in the proposal that you believe might address your concerns, please let me know. Thank you. -- HighKing++ 17:05, 8 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Well, I regularly read the Admin's noticeboard/incidents as I sometimes report users. I have reported users before and I happen to see something about your topic ban. I decided to oppose the lifting of your topic ban because it seems you repeat the behavior that caused you to be topic banned. I hope you understand my intentions. 1999sportsfan (talk) 11:13, 9 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Page move edit

I noticed you did a page move on Ebola virus epidemic in West Africa. Since you don't normally edit that page, I wasn't sure if it would be on your watchlist so I thought I'd give you a heads up that I've started an RfC on the question of the article title. Hopefully it will garner consensus on the title so that we can avoid disruption and confusion to readers. The RfC is here. Thanks. SW3 5DL (talk) 20:36, 9 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

The reason I want to move the page to the other title was because I wanted to make it clear that it happened mainly in 2014. But it seems consensus does not want this. I am willing to respect consensus and I will not comment on this. 1999sportsfan (talk) 23:24, 9 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
