Welcome! edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions so far. I hope you like the place and decide to stay.

Actually, I deleted my account years ago. Wikipedia has a serious problem protecting legibility text editors like me who don't want to play office politics with edit warriors. 184.69.174.194 (talk) 13:58, 13 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but if you wish to acquire additional privileges, you can simply create a named account. It's free, requires no personal information, and lets you:

Note that in order for the first three features to be available, you must have had an account for a certain number of days and made a certain number of edits.

If you edit without using a named account, your IP address (184.69.174.194) is used to identify you instead.

I hope that you, as a Wikipedian, decide to continue contributing to our project: an encyclopedia of human knowledge that anyone can edit. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, or you can click here to ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. We also have an intuitive guide on editing if you're interested. By the way, please make sure to sign and date your talk page comments with four tildes (~~~~).

Happy editing! JarrahTree 04:02, 22 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

January 2019 edit

Hello, I'm Tornado chaser. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Autism spectrum, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Tornado chaser (talk) 18:48, 3 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thank you TC for your polite and non-threatening note. If you are keen on Autism, I suggest you read Temple Grandin's books, and add some of their wisdom to the Autism page. I haven't the wiki-chops to cite from paper books yet, nor quite the time to work deeply on this article. I put the reference in hoping that someone keen on the article would follow up. Sadly, wikipedia is more about edit wars and proprietary editing than pursuing knowledge. At least you were polite while reversing my edit wholesale, which I appreciate, although I wish you, and others, would follow Wikipedia policy and "Improve, not Revert". 184.69.174.194 (talk) 04:48, 17 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Getting an account edit

Hello! You may wish to consider creating an account. It's quick, free, and anonymous (you don't have to give away any real-world information about yourself).

When you're logged in, you can do many things that unregistered users cannot, such as creating new pages, uploading media content, moving pages and keeping track of changes to articles you edit frequently. It helps the community, too — Wikipedians will be more likely to remember who you are when you have an account name! If you would like to check if a username is available, you can go here.

If you want more information on the benefits of creating an account, click here. Best Regards, CapnZapp (talk) 18:42, 30 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

I closed my account years ago because I haven't got time to waste with fuckwit edit warriors who can't stand having even one of their golden words improved for readability. 184.69.174.194 (talk) 13:55, 13 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Grizzly 399 edit

I knew when I created Grizzly 399 it would probably be heavily edited once it was discovered. I'm glad. She's so famous to a certain crowd now. I just wanted to say I like the sections you created. The Life section was too long. Thanks a bunch! dawnleelynn(talk) 22:35, 10 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

That is so sweet, thank you. Most messages I get on Wikipedia are negative vandalism templates from hasty proprietary editors. You made my day! And 399's! ::))

PS: I just thought of a great "did you know" line, but I don't have the Wiki chops to start a did you know page. Did you know that Jane Goodall is trying to purchase a licence to hunt bears to protect a grizzly bear with a Facebook account? lol. PPS: If you can get me a picture of momma bear and the three cubs it would be great.

I just read your comment about it being a fascinating article you are polishing up. Great! I wrote it and one of my mentors Nikkimaria reworked a lot of it, and so it's really an article meant for being made better constantly. Perhaps even make it a GA eventually. Thanks! No ego here. The only time I revert a contribution is if they don't add a source or or break some other serious policy, like copyright, etc. stuff like that. Articles are meant for collaborating. I wish I got more collaborators and less vandals, LOL. If you ever want help to do a DYK, let me know. I've done enough that I know the ropes. Funny about Goodall. :) Sorry you only find negative messages. I was lucky I got a mentor when I first joined. Now you have a friend. dawnleelynn(talk) 22:49, 10 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hal Blaine and citing YouTube edit

Please don't use YouTube as a source on Wikipedia, unless you are absolutely sure it's from an official channel. You wouldn't believe some of the grief we have had from copyright holders complaining that Wikipedia is "advertising" other people profiting their work. I think Fram can fill you in on more details as they've done more work in this area. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 14:59, 12 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

The recording is an amazing document of Hal Blaine's drumming. I'm not mounting it on Wikipedia, like a picture. I'm just telling people it exists, and that does not infringe anyone's copyright. You should not revert edits you don't like, but discuss them. If you want to take the citation out, fine, but you should not have reverted my text. That is edit warring. 184.69.174.194 (talk) 15:21, 12 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
