@El C: Compare Special:Contributions/Cinemarating (e.g. Special:Diff/1113398185) and Special:Diff/1113579836. Not my call, but queen is ambiguous (thx patriarchy) and "The Queen Regnant" doesn't have the same ring to it. Nardog (talk) 21:43, 2 October 2022 (UTC)

2022 Kansas Jayhawks football team

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Page has been edited by multiple IPs adding College Gameday to their upcoming game in an attempt to use as the "gamename" parameter which is intended for rivalries and bowl games, not being named what is essentially ESPN's game of the week. Rockchalk717 18:13, 2 October 2022 (UTC)

Can somebody please review this? The edits have picked up a bit since I requested this.--Rockchalk717 18:50, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
Well, I at least, don't understand what's happening, though I'm not a sports guy. Who made that hidden note? Does it enjoy consensus? What is GameDay? How is it one word? Anyway, it's all quite confusing. El_C 19:52, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
@El C: I added the note last night after it was announced, College Gameday is a College Football pregame show on ESPN and they host it at the stadium that has the game of the week. Kansas vs TCU has been selected as the game of the week. While Template:CFB schedule entry doesn't say it, in the examples it shows the "gamename" parameter in this template is to identify Rivalry Games or Bowl Games (postseason college football games). It's not for identifying what is basically amounts to ESPN's pick for game of the week. Not sure why it's one word, but that's the official branding of the show from ESPN and the Wikipedia page is titled to match it --Rockchalk717 20:25, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
And what is happening is despite that note being there, multiple IPs have attempted to add it since it was announced last night and the IPs are either ignoring the note and adding it, or they are removing the note and adding it.--Rockchalk717 20:26, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
I didn't understand, like, pretty much any of that. I'm probably the wrong person to review this. But I doubt you're allowed to exempt yourself from 3RR to keep a hidden note you created last night and whatever it pertains to (which, again, I don't understand). But maybe...? Who knows (not I). El_C 20:32, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
Add what? Are you providing a citation for whatever... that is? El_C 20:33, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
@El C: Add gameday to the "gamename" parameter. To word so someone who isn't a sports fan can understand it, IP addresses are misusing a parameter in the CFB schedule entry template used on the article despite me adding a note explaining the proper use of that parameter.--Rockchalk717 20:38, 2 October 2022 (UTC)

User:DJ Cane

I have created several new articles, mostly regarding local features and events in my region, with the goal to advance them as far as reasonably possible before moving them from my sandbox to the mainspace. Some recent new articles that I'm proud of are 2020 Pacific Northwest floods, 1996 Pacific Northwest floods, and 1948 Columbia River flood. A full list can be found on my user page. •  Not done Copying without attribution, an article moved to draft space, an article deleted – all during September. I've reviewed your last 10 pages. They were all stubs and it is not possible to assess an editor's capability based on that. Have you written articles with more substance, User:Zacmh? If so, could you please link to them in a reply? Schwede66 09:28, 2 October 2022 (UTC)

I can become Autopatrolled user because I am active in creating new articles and I create articles on Notable Personalities only like Politicians, Religious Leader. There are too much draft articles which have to partolled or review but the arties which I create are notable so I don't want to give overload to patroller of wikipedia.Note - I create 2 or sometimes 3 articles daily in wikipedia. Contributor008 (talk) 04:50, 27 September 2022 (UTC)

Not done The incorrect use of capitalisations in your request gives me pause. A look at your talk page shows that you don’t archive items, which make alarm bells ring. Looking at your talk page history shows that your articles should remain under review by other editors. Pro-tip: start archiving your talk page, Contributor008. Schwede66 18:21, 2 October 2022 (UTC)

I have received the NPP rights for one month a bit less than one month ago on the 27 August by Rosguill. So far I believe I am doing well. Now the October backlog drive message came out and I'd also like to take part in that one, so I am applying for the renewal of the NPP userrights.Paradise Chronicle (talk) 22:19, 23 September 2022 (UTC)

Things seem to be in order, but i'm concerned about the lack of deletion experience with NPP as it seems you are mostly only approving well built articles. I'm going to  extend for another month in the hope that we can see some further development in that area. -- Amanda (she/her) 05:25, 28 September 2022 (UTC)

I'd like to request a temporary extension of my probationary period with the new page reviewer rights. I received the message on my talk page yesterday about the October backlog drive and I'd like to participate in it. However my current permission expires at 00:00, 6 October 2022 (UTC) so I'd only be able to participate for the first week without an extension. Thanks. I'd like to see some more contributions before the 6th that show you know what is going on before I grant another month. Feel free to rerequest and ping me before the 6th.  Not done -- Amanda (she/her) 05:29, 28 September 2022 (UTC)
The patrols so far look good, so extended for another month. Femke (talk) 15:05, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
That was a mistake, meant to respond to the next editor. I'm very sorry. Femke (talk) 15:07, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
If you don't object @AmandaNP, I'm would like to not revoke this. Apologies for the mistake again. Since your last comment, there have been a few additional patrols that look good, even if it's still just below the level I'd like to see for a temporary extension. A backlog drive is a good learning experience, given the systemic rereviews. Femke (talk) 15:23, 2 October 2022 (UTC)

I am applying again for the role after my 1-month probationary period expired. I have done some work as a patroller, and expect to be more active in the future compared to this month, as I have been on holiday and taken wikibreaks. JML1148 (Talk | Contribs) 04:07, 27 September 2022 (UTC)

As I stated earlier, I have been on holiday and taken breaks from Wikipedia for much of this month, and my intention is to be more active on NPP if my request is approved. In the four days of August that I was a new page reviewer, I made 19 reviews, which is in the region of the number of page reviews I would like to do in that timeframe. JML1148 (Talk | Contribs) 08:11, 29 September 2022 (UTC)

I've been contributing for a few years now, both with substantial major edits to articles and doing maintenance work. I am in the process of submitting a couple new Articles and would like to be able to give back to the community. Due to recent circumstances I now have more time to contribute more regularly. Thanks. Jtrrs0 (talk) 14:04, 30 September 2022 (UTC)

(Non-administrator comment) @Jtrrs0: With zero created pages at this point and participation in only 4 AfDs, of which two were yesterday, do you think you can demonstrate competency in reviewing new pages? From my own recent experience, if you can't demonstrate an understanding of what is and is not an appropriate article, you're unlikely to be granted the privilege at this time. Bungle (talkcontribs) 16:19, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply. I agree with you. I was in fact wondering if there was a way to withdraw my request. I think I still have a fair bit to learn about NPP. Jtrrs0 (talk) 16:52, 1 October 2022 (UTC)

Requests for pending changes reviewer

Pending changes reviewer

Can I have the ability to accept pending changes, please? I used to "unofficially" accept uncontroversial pending changes for some time now by "double reverting" the edit, but this isn't working anymore. What I mainly do here is copyedit and fight vandalism. –Daveout(talk) 18:34, 20 September 2022 (UTC)

Have always been on the watch regarding inappropriate edits made on pages, inappropriate reliable source added to pages & vandalism. My main field are on the WikiProject Africa and WikiProject Nigeria but as from time to time I do randomly look towards other pages. I would love to support other editors who have been in this task journey to make wikipedia a better community in accepting what is right & rejecting what is not right. Hello! I'm Taukeerppw. I would like to be pending changes reviewer. I have the right to rollback but I can address the pending changes backlog. I see when patrolling the recent changes page. I have been an editor for over 4 years, performed by 4000 edits and have obtained experience with reviewing articles and reverting vandalism and unconstructive edit(s) by patrolling the recent changes. I have read and am aware of the relevant guidlines on reviewing. Thanks for your consideration Face-smile.svg. Taukeerppw (talk) 20:29, 23 September 2022 (UTC)

I have been on Wikipedia for quite some time and actively trying to make this a better space. I have had made many edits majorly in the entertainment space. I have tried my best to add useful inputs and remove destructive edits. I have also made various wikipedia pages that have been reviewed successfully by fellow editors. Hope you find me useful for the work. Thank you!! Jha09 (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 09:35, 27 September 2022 (UTC)‎

Requests for rollback

Reason for requesting rollback rights Yarrowfes21 (talk) 19:03, 26 September 2022 (UTC)

Despite being on the site for 2 months, I have been capable of detecting suspicious edits being made on articles I frequently visit. I can distinguish between false edits and legitimate edits based on the correct sources being published alongside the edit.

Noting that after I let you know three days ago to warn users after undoing vandalism, you've still failed to do so. DatGuyTalkContribs 22:18, 30 September 2022 (UTC)

I have been on Wikipedia for quite some time and actively trying to make this a better space. My fields of interest have been majorly history and I have done much work on pages like Mariam-uz-Zamani, and Khusrao Mirza while trying to protect pages relating to historic figures against vandalism. There are a ginormous amount of pages that are subjected to vandalism frequently however manually my bandwidth decreases to restore them to their references and correct piece of information. I would for this very purpose, to protect such pages against vandalism, would like to be granted access to the rollback. Thank you Nush1125 (talk) 20:15, 26 September 2022 (UTC)

I am trying to act as per Wikipedia's policies against vandalism and sock puppetry. If administrators consider me worthy of granting these rights, I will be grateful.-- Satrar (talk) 21:24, 29 September 2022 (UTC)

User:That Coptic Guy

I've taken a keen interest in patrolling Recent Changes and reverting vandalism as necessary. I am requesting rollback permissions for use with Huggle--to expand my capabilities further--and believe my track record of anti-vandalism has demonstrated that I would be able to use rollback faithfully and correctly. Throughout my time patrolling, I have been familiarizing myself with what warnings to use as appropriate, different types of vandalism (whether true vandalism, unsourced or factually untrue material, a good faith/accidental/test edit, etc.) I also have been taking the time to properly warn users against vandalizing further and reporting to WP:AIV or even WP:UAA if need be. Thanks for your consideration. — That Coptic Guy (talk) 15:45, 30 September 2022 (UTC) — That Coptic Guy (talk) 15:45, 30 September 2022 (UTC)

Hm. Your recent edits have led to the full protection of the article about Bayes' theorem. In your first revert, you have acknowledged the good-faith nature of the edit, yet reverted it without providing an actual reason. With rollback, that would have been a form of misuse of the permission (cf. WP:ROLLBACKUSE).
I'm afraid that if we grant rollback immediately after such an incident, we could as well grant it to everyone asking through a bot. Rollback is comparatively simple to obtain, but edit warring and unexplained reverts are pretty much the definition of what leads to disapproval. Sorry. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 18:29, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
Not done ~ ToBeFree (talk) 18:30, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
@ToBeFree - Thank you for the feedback. I'll work on specifying my reasons for reverting. For what its worth, though, I did add a comment to the caution associated with the revert. I left it on the IP user's talk page, making it clear that I'm encouraging discussion and asking them not to make big changes to the article without talk page consensus and to do so civilly as well. I also clarified my intentions and specifically mentioned that I did not want to begin an edit war.
I'm also wondering when a suitable time would be for me to re-apply for permissions. Thanks. — That Coptic Guy (talk) 19:57, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
This is probably clear, but just to have written this: The advice given to is fine, but it wasn't only's editing which could have been improved by following it.
I was inclined to grant rollback a few days ago and just lacked the time to perform a review. This is why I remembered this request when I encountered the AIV report about and the edit war.
So from me personally, if you re-apply in a month, either here or on my talk page, or perhaps ideally here with a notification on my talk page, that would be perfect. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 23:44, 2 October 2022 (UTC)

Hello. I am requesting the permission for rollback as it would make contributing to Wikipedia in the aspect of reverting vandalism a lot less difficult. Thank you. BlueNoise (talk) 22:09, 1 October 2022 (UTC)

I have been working to revert vandalism for some time now, mostly patrolling Recent changes. I have used Twinkle and RedWarn to revert vandalism and warn vandals. Rollback rights would make it easier for me to revert obvious vandalism. Blazin777 (talk) 00:49, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
