Recall Requirements

Adminship is granted, at present, without any method of easy removal of the user rights. A number of administrators have added themselves to Category:Wikipedia administrators open to recall. I am also happy to be open to recall. My requirements are uncomplicated;

If three or more of the following editors all make a formal good faith petition to me that I should no longer have admin rights then I will ask for them to be removed with immediate effect. The request must be signed by three editors within a seven day period. Editors who leave Wikipedia will be removed from the list. Others may be added.

Answers to your questions edit

1. Hold on Pedro - aren't these just your wiki mates? They're never going to ask you to hand back the bit.

A. Oh no. Yes, there are some editors I've had excellent and only ever friendly interaction with. And there's others where we've had disagreements (lucklily now in the past).

2. Why these editors then?

A. Because I've had a lot of interaction with them. Because they represent a good cross section of the community. And because above all I can trust them to act in good faith. If three or more of the above think I'm abusing adminship then it is un-questionably time for me to hand the bit back.

3. I'm not on the list but I think you should lose the tools.

A. First, please chat to me! I'm sure it can be resolved. However if this is not an option, for whatever reason, I'd suggest you make contact with any of the editors on the above list and ask them to initiate recall.

4. I'm not on the list and I'm mighty offended.

A. Don't be. I could list dozens of editors here. There's no point - there's plenty above who can do the right thing by Wikipedia if I go off the rails.
