About meEdit

My name is Jan-Hendrik du Toit. I was born in the Cape Town suburb of Milnerton, but I currently reside in the small town of Paarl. I like to think of myself as one of the youngest Wikipedians. My mother tongue or moedertaal is Afrikaans, but I can also speak English very well. My username refers to the left-right political spectrum. I became a Wikipedia contributor in June 2017 and ever since then, I have edited and contributed to various articles relating to South African politics and politicians.

I regularly contribute to the Afrikaans Wikipedia. Some of the Afrikaans articles that I have heavily contributed to include Alan Winde and Dan Plato. I also contribute to Wikimedia Commons. User:Ourcountry.ourfuture was my initial account and I have since ceased using it due to me losing the password.

I love politics, much to the dismay of the people around me. I see myself as an aspiring future politician. Though I have met many local and national South African politicians of various political backgrounds, I am independent of all the political parties. I try to be as nonpartisan as possible when I edit and contribute.

Well-known South African politicians that I have met include John Steenhuisen, Helen Zille, James Selfe, Alan Winde, Dan Plato, Bonginkosi Madikizela, Julius Malema, Floyd Shivambu, Cyril Ramaphosa, Phumzile van Damme, etc. The list is very long!

On Wikipedia, I have received many Barnstars and acknowledgement for my work. I was named Editor of the Week in November 2019 following Girth Summit's kind nomination. I am very grateful for that!
