IMPORTANT BEHIND CHOSEN BACHELOR OF PUBLIC HEALTH
If you ask students who read biology in science in +2, then you will find that most of the student wants to read M.B.B.S or B.Pharm and B.Sc. Nursing. It’s because it one of the respect and most popular subject in our societies. Same like my aim also is to read M.B.B.S in scholarship if I got first division otherwise reading B.Pharm if I did not get scholarship. Unfortunately my result was so poor which makes me to chosen Bachelor of Public Health without knowing the scope of public health because my friends say that you can pass easily this subject. When I join the college I did not know anything about its scope. But after reading on it I am proud to say other that I am student of Bachelor of public health.
As we know that the meaning of public refers mass of people and government and according to World Health Organization, Health is defined as state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. So, public health is defined as:-
1.Science : We know that science is derived from •Latin word Scire: to know •Latin word Scientia: knowledge So, this helps to know health status of a general and specific geographic area group of people and government actions and condition to their health.
2.Art: Ability to works for preventive of the disease, promoting the health and prolonging the life of the people by providing quality, accessible and affordable comprehensive health care services in the community participation and political support with the proper legislation.
This above description about public health illustrated that the role of public health professionals is to preventive the disease, promoting the health and prolonging the life of the people. They act as telescope to find out and solve the hidden health problem in the community which cannot perform by clinical person. Not only have this had they also promoted healthy lifestyles on an individual, family, professional, or community level. Due to focusing on different areas of concentration include health education, epidemiology, bio-statistics, environmental health, occupational health and safety, child health, preventing diseases, international health and many other the role of public health professional have broad spectrum of responsibilities who can pursue their career at the administrative or management level.
Bachelor of Public Health graduates can work in different areas including Government health organization, Health research organization, I/NGOs, Academic institution, Community development organizations, Quality control organizations, Health training and counseling centres in the different posts like infection control practitioner at a community medical center, as a director of public nursing, as a city health planner, as an epidemiologist serving the community or country, public health administrator, Nutritionist and many other posts.
