Military Duty Stations edit

In November 4, 2000 AMAPO joined the U.S. Army as a Private. He did his Army Basic Combat Training in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Later he graduated Commandant's List in his Military Occupation Specialty as an Administrative Specialist. His first duty station was Camp Casey, South Korea near Tongduchon for one year. He provided support for the 2nd Infantry Division in the 509th PSB. He was awarded the Korea Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Army Achievement Medal. He was promoted twice to Private First Class. His next duty station was Fort Hood, Texas he served as an Administrative Specialist in the 151 AG Company while there he received various awards, Certificate of Achievement, and got promoted to Specialist. In December 2003, his unit was on high alert due to the preparation of Operation Iraqi Freedom. His unit got their mobilization orders to deploy to Iraq. His unit landed in Kuwait City, Kuwait and they stayed there 3 weeks before receiving their Duty Assignment, which sent them to the Baghdad International Airport. There he served as a Convoy Escort. He provided defensive machine-gun fire against insurgent offensive fire. During a typical mission, traveling from Baghdad to Babylon, Iraq his vehicle was hit by sniper fire. Two bullets went into his vehicle the first shot barely missed him by about 6 inches and the second one killed his driver. His unit suffered 2 casualties one Killed in Action KIA and the other Wounded in Action WIA. Later his unit was transferred to Al Asad Airbase in the Triangle of Death Iraq. His unit supported the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. Once his tour was over his unit returned home to Fort Hood. His award include Army Commendation Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and National Guard Service Ribbon.
