Trafford College is a further education college in Trafford, Greater Manchester, England. It was formed with the merger of North Trafford College (established 1974) and South Trafford College (established 1951) in 2007. At its most recent Ofsted College inspection in 2017 Trafford College was graded as "Good" .[1] Lesley Davies, OBE was appointed principal of Trafford College in November 2016. She was formerly senior vice president at the UK’s largest awarding body, Pearson UK, and previously deputy CEO of the Association of Colleges, and has over 25 years of experience in education.

Campuses and facilitiesEdit

Trafford College has two campuses: Altrincham Campus and the Centre for Science & Technology (Talbot Road, Stretford, Manchester), plus the Skills Shop based at the Trafford Centre.

Altrincham campus offers A-Levels and a range of vocational courses in Business & Accountancy, Childcare, Creative Arts & Media, Foundation Learning, Hairdressing, Beauty & Spa Therapies, Health & Social Care, Hospitality, IT & Computing, Sport & Uniformed Services, and Tourism and Aviation. Facilities include the Strive Fitness Suite, Enhance Salon & Spa and Aspire Restaurant Bar.

The Centre for Science & Technology at Talbot Road opposite Lancashire County Cricket Club is STEM Assured, and has Engineering and Motor Vehicle workshops, Science labs, and AMC and AM2 Training Centres. The Centre offers a range of vocational courses in Electrical Installation, Electronics, Engineering, Engineering Services for Buildings, Foundation Learning, Gas, Motor Vehicle, Plumbing, Science and A Levels in Applied Science, Biology, Chemistry, English Language, Maths, Physics and Psychology.

The Skills Shop, based at INTU Trafford Centre, offers training programmes to young people in Retail, Hospitality and Customer Service. The hub also provides employers with both staff development and training solutions.

STEM AssuredEdit

Trafford College holds STEM Assured status. STEM Assured is the standard for assuring the delivery of vocational STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education and training. The standard has been specifically developed to assure the quality of an integrated, cross-curricular approach to STEM vocational education. It is awarded by the New Engineering Foundation, NEF: The Innovation Institute.

Trafford College offer a range of professional qualifications, short leisure courses, Community Learning courses that are delivered in venues across Trafford, and Looking for Work programmes to support people in moving back into employment.

Working in conjunction with partner universities and employers, Trafford College offers Access to Higher Education courses, a range of full-time and part-time courses from Foundation Degrees to HNC/Ds and a number of Professional Courses.
