Template talk:Winter solstice

Latest comment: 15 years ago by Some thing

the idea of a "festival" template is interesting, though it poses a number of issues. most of the festivals are either extinct, moved to a different country than their stated one or no longer occur on the winter solstice so it may be somewhat misleading to not include this information some how in the template. amaterasu as far as i know isnt celebrated by the japanese anymore, but instead they celebrate toji just as the chinese observe dongzhi. and jonkonu is no longer observed in west africa but in the caribbean. plus it is very difficult to really claim a specific place that a festival tradition began, especially ones so ancient. so maybe the cultural name is better? and maybe footnote symbols to represent extinction or migration would help (†,‡,→). i'll try and get around to contributing to the template at some point.
