Here are some tasks awaiting attention:

Bug edit

This template has a major bug - it labels everything it is attached to as an "article", even when class=Category, etc., are used (see top of this pagel, which uses class=Template, for proof). See {{WPBiography}} for code to do this properly.

Tables of content on talk pages with this template are showing up only when the "to to" list is expanded. It is also associated with an error about a flag and a 1980 Olympic bronze. SlowJog (talk) 01:47, 19 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Deprecate importance? edit

See discussion at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Sports#Proposal:_Deprecate_importance_parameter_for_assessment_for_Sports - there's a proposal to remove the importance parameter from this template and no longer assess sports articles by importance, and only assess by quality. SnowFire (talk) 00:16, 20 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

See above linked discussion to Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Sports#Proposal:_Deprecate_importance_parameter_for_assessment_for_Sports , where there's a strong consensus for deprecating the "importance" parameter. The edit requested is to remove this line from the template:

|importance={{{importance|}}}

Facilities and venues taskforce edit

Per the discussions (A)(B), a new TF for WPSPORTS is established, WP:WikiProject Sports/Facilities and venues task force, and its category Category:WikiProject Sports facilities. Please add the appropriate coding to activate it.

|tf 1 = {{{venues|{{{facilities|{{{Venues|{{{Facilities|{{{VENUES|{{{FACILITIES|}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}
 |TF_1_LINK =Wikipedia:WikiProjectSports/Facilities and venues task force
 |TF_1_NAME =Facilities and venues task force
 |TF_1_NESTED     =Facilities
 |TF_1_IMAGE      =Wembley Stadium closeup.jpg
 |TF_1_SIZE       =60px
|TF_1_QUALITY     =yes
|TF_1_ASSESSMENT_CAT = sports facilities articles
 |TF_1_MAIN_CAT = WikiProject Sports facilities articles

Working on it in the sandbox. However, we need to decide if we really want |TF_1_QUALITY=yes. If this is set, then we have to create all the following, and I'm not certain that the project wants these:

Update: The modified template is now live, with the main category it needs created, but with |TF_1_QUALITY=no, pending a consensus to turn on all the above assesment subcategories. The /doc page has been updated. Template has been tested in a live article talk page with |venues=y, at Talk:Wembley Arena.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  08:33, 4 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
PS: "Category:WikiProject Sports facilities" was not an appropriate name for the category, since there is no such wikiproject. It's now at Category:Sports facilities and venues task force (since just "Facilities and venues task force" by itself would be too ambiguous a category name).  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  06:44, 5 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
It was the original name of the task force, before it was converted into a task force, when it was a wikiproject. The category was never deleted, and continued to function even after the WPP was converted to a TF of WPVenues. -- 65.92.247.90 (talk) 04:21, 6 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I figured that out. Anyway, the old cat. with the name that no longer makes sense is being speedily CfDed.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  09:53, 6 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
