Content of National Team pages edit

This dispute arises from my editing and updating of the pages relating to women's international sevens rugby union. Some 50 or so nations have separate women's pages - those who have also played test rugby - but another 60 or so have only played sevens, and have no national team page. Pages could be created for all of these nations but at present, in most cases, these would be little more than stubs and would probably be deleted.

However the history of most women's national teams - certainly for the minor nations - closely reflects that of their men's teams. In quite a few cases the women's teams began playing at the same time as the men's. They all represent (and are selected by) the same unions, play in the same kit, etc. The simplest solution seemed, therefore, to include a small paragraph about the existence and playing history of the women's team on the main national team page, linked to the main women's sevens data pages. In fact looking around this has already been done with Andorra, for example.

Unfortunately I am told that this is not possible.

"It may be sexist, but I'm afraid that's how it is. These pages are about men's national XVs. The women's pages are listed separately, as the national sevens teams (of both genders). The "rugby union in X" pages could do with a bit of filling out in most cases anyway.--MacRusgail (talk) 14:21, 20 December 2010 (UTC)"

Is this the case? As things stand these pages are misleading as there is nothing to suggest that the National Team pages are EXCLUSIVELY about men's teams. Rugby today is not a sport just for men, and it would not be unreasonable for someone looking for information about - say - Venezuela's national women's team to look to the "national team" page. If these pages are for men's rugby alone they should say so.

It has been suggested that the information should instead go on the appropriate "Rugby in..." page. But that would be even worse - these are national teams, and the entries about the national team would include no information about the status or history of women's rugby in each of the nations.

So, what should be done for - say - Bulgaria's women's national team (52 sevens internationals, no tests)?:

Advice appreciated.Johnlbirch (talk) 15:51, 21 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

2016-17 Rugby Europe International Championships edit

I'm not sure if the is the correct place to put this - please bear with me!

The article on the Rugby Europe Championships is incorrect as the Bonus Point system for these championships has changed to the 'French' system whereby try bonus points are only awarded to the winning team if they score at least 3 tries more than the opposition. In the Conference 2 South table Norway should have no bonus points and Denmark should have 1.

The Rugby Europe website is not clear on this but the league tables show it.
