Text edit

Could the text be brought closer to the lines? It's stranded at quite a distance at the moment. G-13114 (talk) 22:52, 25 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Simplify? edit

I'm also thinking maybe this could be simplified, as it is getting rather long. Maybe by cutting out the defunct stations and most of the disused branch lines, although we could probably keep the link to the Wolverhampton Low Level line as that was a major main line. The high detailed stuff should go on the templates for the individual lines, such as Template:Birmingham-Worcester via Kidderminster, Template:Birmingham to Stratford Line RDT and Template:Chiltern Main Line. Otherwise this just duplicates those. What does anyone else think? G-13114 (talk) 05:56, 26 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

What are major stations? edit

Someone removed Solihull, Stourbridge Junction and Kidderminster as major stations. I find this a bit odd as these are three of the principal stops on this route, and all three serve large towns and have more than a million passenger entries/exits. So in the context of these lines these are major stops surely? G-13114 (talk) 12:07, 1 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

It was me. We probably could do with a discussion on what constitutes a major station but to me multiple platform city centre stations are different from two (and a bay) in the suburbs. People do tend to allocate major stations at random and a lot of the diagrams were drawn when BHF was the only station symbol available so that's what every station was given. I suppose it depends on the context of the line in question, and what are the principle stations on the route. Just looking at Template:East Coast Main Line for example, and Hertford North, Retford, Grantham and Berwick-upon-Tweed among others are allocated major station status. Despite some of them having fewer than one million passenger entry/exits. Maybe we need to have an intermediate symbol for medium importance stations. I just think a clearer divide between the existing ones would be good. I also feel that you might be better discussing this at WikiProject Trains where it would have a wider audience. Britmax (talk) 14:37, 1 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
