Edits to ranks edit

Sanjidul Islam has been trying to edit this template, making changes with incorrect syntax (and MoS problems), thus breaking its display in the articles that transclude it. I reverted one of the attempts on the basis of the broken syntax, not realizing I had stepped into the middle of an edit-war. It looks to me that neither the current state nor the one that I reverted to match the cited source, but I don't know enough to contribute usefully on the subject matter (only the syntax). Please discuss. (pinging Skjoldbro and Cdjp1) —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 13:50, 11 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

I've just been reverting back to prior standard as no source provided for changes, and messing up the templates. Based on the source provided it would seem that we need to correct the Enlisted template and place the JCOs in a NATO-WO equivalent template. Huh, just noticed that the OR grading used on the site seems to be independent of the NATO standard OR grading. I'd defer to Skjoldbro's knowledge on the matter then. Though if Sanjidul Islam can provide links to documentation that compare the ranks to NATO militaries' ranks in any manner, that could help. Cdjp1 (talk) 17:04, 11 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
Ditto. And while the "cited source" shows one thing, we have 3 other sources showing something different and in line with the templates: joinbangladesharmy.army.mil.bd/, joinnavy.mil.bd & joinbangladeshairforce.mil.bd. If there are better/more sources that state something different, feel free to change it. It is just important to remember that this template is used on a number of pages and works in conjunction with 1300 similar templates. Skjoldbro (talk) 07:55, 12 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
... or come to an agreement here about what should be there so someone familiar with the syntax can implement it correctly. —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 15:39, 12 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
Or that, yes. Skjoldbro (talk) 06:31, 13 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Can you guys please tell me what should be done??? Sanjidul Islam (talk) 19:17, 3 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Edit edit

What's the problem? Sanjidul Islam (talk) 19:16, 3 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Like I stated numerous times, your changes are unsourced. According to joinbangladesharmy.army.mil.bd/, joinnavy.mil.bd & joinbangladeshairforce.mil.bd these are the correct ranks. Skjoldbro (talk) 19:18, 3 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Sanjidul Islam: Additionally, both the official navy and air force websites show Warrant officers. If you have some official document that states otherwise, feel free to share it. But as it stands right now, there is plenty of evidence that WOs are still used in the Bangladesh military. Skjoldbro (talk) 12:06, 4 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
But the first link you provided doesn't contain any such classification as Officer and Others. So how can you determine that? Sanjidul Islam (talk) 09:46, 6 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
https://joinbangladesharmy.army.mil.bd/home/page/ranks-insignia And this link classifies the ranks as "Soldiers","Junior Commissioned Officers" and "Officers"-1st paragraph. You must read it carefully.♥️ Sanjidul Islam (talk) 09:52, 6 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
And for your kind information, https://www.army.mil.bd/Rank-Categories
This is the official link of Bangladesh army which clearly states warrant officers as "JCO's" not "Others". Sanjidul Islam (talk) 09:57, 6 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Sanjidul Islam: Firstly, the "others" is a word to describe everything that is not Officers, as such enlisted, NCO's and JCO's would be classified as such. But if the issue is they are described as such on Military ranks of Bangladesh, I have changed it. Secondly, while the official website does show all the ranks, the ranking system is not following the NATO system (Which we attempt to do with all rank templates for easy comparison). Additionally, the JCO's are used by all branches, unlike the Sergeant Major ranks. To ensure easy comparison between the branches (as seen on Official Air force) and other nations, such as HERE, JCOs should be shown in the templates, just like warrant officers are shown on for all nations. I think the change has addressed the issue. Skjoldbro (talk) 14:41, 6 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Yes. Thank you Sanjidul Islam (talk) 17:26, 6 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
