Transgender inclusion

Instead of the vague "gender identity/expression" there should be clearly enunciated legal rights with a standard form, for example:

• Cross-dressing legal?
• SRS legal?

I tried splitting "gender identity/expression" into 3 sections (1 for SRS, 1 for change of legal gender, and 1 for other laws), but the new version was way too busy... The infobox gives a brief overview of the country's LGBT rights climate, and isn't an exhaustive list of all LGBT rights topics (not all GLB topics are covered either). While the trans section is not very specific in scope, it does allow flexibility to list SRS/legal gender change plus other laws which may be worth highlighting in a certain country (such as outlawing cross-dressing)

One way to include multiple topics within the current "Gender identity/expression" heading would be the same way that the other sections take multiple topics when needed... such as "|gender_identity_expression = [[SRS]] allowed,<br/>Change of legal gender allowed,<br/>Cross-dressing outlawed" (not sure if cross-dressing would even need to be mentioned in the infobox unless it was outlawed? - which would definitely make it worth highlighting)

Another solution would be to add more trans topics to the summary tables of articles which have them (though currently only some countries have the tables - mainly in Europe and Oceania). The summary tables have more room and list more topics - such as IVF, blood donation, etc. The only trans topic I saw on the ones I checked was legal gender change though (more can be added though). "Military" above "Anti-discrimination"?

I noticed that this template lists "Miltiary service" above "Discrimination protections". Which I find weird. "Military" stuff seems to be a big deal in the USA for LGBT people, less so in other parts of the Anglosphere. Should it go above "Discrimination protection"? Anti-discrimination law has a much larger effect on LGBT people's lives than being in the military? ____Ebelular (talk) 13:44, 27 January 2017 (UTC)

"Vigilante execution"

I had assumed that the "Penalty" parameter was intended to show only official legal penalties. Is "vigilante execution" an appropriate entry, or should that be added, if necessary, just in the main body of the article? No it shouldn't be added, what someone calls vigilante excutions happens in all countries even western ones with same-sex marriage and hate crime protections laws, most other editors opposed to it as u can see in the history pages of some articles (for example LGBT rights in Tunisia. It is not what the law say and it is based in unbiased unsourced assupmtions to serve some agenda. Cheers!!AdamPrideTN (talk) 11:26, 11 August 2019 (UTC)

No it should be added it is a circumstance that occurs quite often in anti-gay countries and is a physical punishment that still affects the victim and his/her family. I believe that even non government actions that result from being gay in an anti-gay country should be added for this reason. Also, there is no agenda. When we give legal status and then the penalty, it seems to me quite obvious that it's the legal penalty. Certainly that's how people will read it. It's relevant whether the penalty is enforced. (E.g. in one death-penalty country, I forget which, the death penalty has never been used.) But if we count what random people do, do we add such 'penalties' for countries where HS is legal? How about the USA, where they chained that guy to a fence and he died of exposure? Does that mean the USA has the death penalty for being gay? And we would need to change the map to match, so the USA would need to be the same dark brown as Saudi and Iran. Indeed, it would be hard to find any country with a sufficiently large population where vigilante attacks, including execution and torture, do not at least occasionally occur. The boxes might have a 'social situation' section, but it would be hard to summarize w/o POV issues.

I did color Chechnya brown on the map, despite HS being legal, because the govt is in cahoots with the vigilantes, not just corrupt cops but from the very top. That might be POV and maybe should be removed. But if we keep it, IMO it needs to be a pretty clear that violation of the rule of law is SOP before counting such things as a penalty.

Infobox LGBT rights needs massive updates

Gender identity section redirects to Gender expression, should be changed to Non-binary gender recognition which redirects to Legal recognition of non-binary gender

Military redirects to Sexual orientation in military service should be changed to Sexual orientation and gender identity in military service

Discrimination protections should be divided into several subcategories:

• Asylum
• Blood donations
• Conversion therapy
• Education
• Employment
• Goods & services
• Hate crime laws
• Health

New section for Medically assisted insemination
