This is the WikiProject banner template used by WikiProject Micronesia to keep track of articles within its scope. All articles are categorised into Category:WikiProject Micronesia articles.

Basic usage

Place this on the talk page of relevant articles:

It is usual to remove any unused parameters from the template call.

Parameters

• category – set |category=no if, and only if, a banner is being used for demonstration or testing purposes, to prevent unnecessary or undesirable categorization. Otherwise, omit this parameter.
• listas – this parameter, which is the equivalent of the DEFAULTSORT sortkey that should be placed on all biographical articles, is a sortkey for the article talk page (e.g. for John Smith, use |listas=Smith, John so that the talk page will show up in the Smith's and not the John's of the various assessment and administrative categories. Similarly, for topics with titles beginning with an article such as "the" or "a" - e.g. for The Matrix, use |listas=Matrix, The so that the talk page will show up in the Matrix's. This is important because it is one source used by those who set DEFAULTSORT on the article; consider also setting the DEFAULTSORT for the article when setting this parameter. For more information about this, please see Wikipedia:Categorization of people#Ordering names in a category. It is not required if another WikiProject template on the same page has its own {{para|listas}} set, since it affects the sortkey of all banners and templates.
• class – see #Quality assessment below.
• importance – see #Importance assessment below.

Notes and alerts

• attention – set |attention=yes if the article needs immediate attention from experienced editors. Use only if another parameter does not cover the need for attention; this should be used sparingly. It is strongly encouraged to also add a section to the talk page explaining what needs attention. This parameter populates Category:Micronesia articles needing attention.
• needs-infobox – set |needs-infobox=yes if the article needs an infobox. Remember that infoboxes are not suitable for all articles, and can overwhelm short articles. This parameter populates Category:Wikipedia articles with an infobox request.
• needs-photo – to request that an image or photograph be added to the page.
• imagedetails – additional text to insert before the words "be added to this article" to describe the subject or type of image that is requested.
• in – specify the location of the requested image. Will be categorised into Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in LOCATION, where LOCATION is the value of the |in= paramater. If no location is specified then Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Micronesia is used by default.
• needs-map – set |needs-map=yes or any non-blank value other than "no", "n" or "0". The following message will be displayed: "It is requested that an a map be included in this article to improve its quality." This will populate Category:Wikipedia requested maps in Micronesia.
• unref – set |unref=yes or any non-blank value other than "no", "n" or "0". The following message will be displayed: "This article lacks sufficient references and/or adequate inline citations." This will populate Category:Articles lacking sources.
• needs-geocoord – set |needs-geocoord=yes or any non-blank value other than "no", "n" or "0". The following message will be displayed: "This article lacks geocoordinate (latitude;longitude) data. Once the geocoordinates data is added, please remove the |needs-geocoord= parameter from this template." This will populate Category:Micronesia articles missing geocoordinate data.

• FSM – set |FSM=yes if the article is supported by WikiProject Federated States of Micronesia. This parameter populates Category:Federated States of Micronesia work group articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Federated States of Micronesia articles by quality based on the |class= parameter. This parameter uses |FSM-importance= to populate the relevant subcategory of Category:Federated States of Micronesia articles by importance.
• Guam – set |Guam=yes if the article is supported by the Guam work group. This parameter populates Category:Guam work group articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Guam articles by quality based on the |class= parameter. This parameter uses |Guam-importance= to populate the relevant subcategory of Category:Guam articles by importance.
• JohnstonAtoll – set |JohnstonAtoll=yes if the article is supported by the Johnston Atoll work group. This parameter populates Category:Johnston Atoll work group articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Johnston Atoll articles by quality based on the |class= parameter. This parameter uses |JohnstonAtoll-importance= to populate the relevant subcategory of Category:Johnston Atoll articles by importance.
• Kiribati – set |Kiribati=yes if the article is supported by WikiProject Kiribati. This parameter populates Category:Kiribati work group articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Kiribati articles by quality based on the |class= parameter. This parameter uses |Kiribati-importance= to populate the relevant subcategory of Category:Kiribati articles by importance.
• MarshallIslands – set |MarshallIslands=yes if the article is supported by WikiProject Marshall Islands. This parameter populates Category:Marshall Islands work group articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Marshall Islands articles by quality based on the |class= parameter. This parameter uses |MarshallIslands-importance= to populate the relevant subcategory of Category:Marshall Islands articles by importance.
• Nauru – set |Nauru=yes if the article is supported by WikiProject Nauru. This parameter populates Category:Nauru work group articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Nauru articles by quality based on the |class= parameter. This parameter uses |Nauru-importance= to populate the relevant subcategory of Category:Nauru articles by importance.
• NMI – set |NMI=yes if the article is supported by the Northern Mariana Islands work group. This parameter populates Category:Northern Mariana Islands work group articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Northern Mariana Islands articles by quality based on the |class= parameter. This parameter uses |NMI-importance= to populate the relevant subcategory of Category:Northern Mariana Islands articles by importance.
• Palau – set |Palau=yes if the article is supported by WikiProject Palau. This parameter populates Category:Palau work group articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Palau articles by quality based on the |class= parameter. This parameter uses |Palau-importance= to populate the relevant subcategory of Category:Palau articles by importance.
• WakeIsland – set |WakeIsland=yes if the article is supported by the Wake Island work group. This parameter populates Category:Wake Island work group articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Wake Island articles by quality based on the |class= parameter. This parameter uses |WakeIsland-importance= to populate the relevant subcategory of Category:Wake Island articles by importance.

Classification of redirects and disambiguation pages

If the |class= parameter is not defined and the WikiProject banner is placed on the talk page of a redirect (in any namespace) or disambigation page then it will automatically be classified as follows:

• Redirects will automatically be classified as Redirect-class and placed in Category:Redirect-Class Micronesia articles.
• Disambiguation pages will automatically be classified as Disambig-class and placed in Category:Disambig-Class Micronesia articles.

Classification based on namespace

In addition, if |class= is empty, undefined or unrecognized, then the class will be deduced from the namespace of the page when possible.
