This is the WikiProject banner template used by WikiProject Medicine to keep track of articles within its scope. All articles are categorised into Category:All WikiProject Medicine articles.

Basic usage

Place this on the talk page of relevant articles:

Parameters

• category – set |category=no if, and only if, a banner is being used for demonstration or testing purposes, to prevent unnecessary or undesirable categorization. Otherwise, omit this parameter.
• listas – this parameter, which is the equivalent of the DEFAULTSORT sortkey that should be placed on all biographical articles, is a sortkey for the article talk page (e.g. for John Smith, use |listas=Smith, John so that the talk page will show up in the Smith's and not the John's of the various assessment and administrative categories. Similarly, for topics with titles beginning with an article such as "the" or "a" - e.g. for The Matrix, use |listas=Matrix, The so that the talk page will show up in the Matrix's. This is important because it is one source used by those who set DEFAULTSORT on the article; consider also setting the DEFAULTSORT for the article when setting this parameter. For more information about this, please see Wikipedia:Categorization of people#Ordering names in a category. It is not required if another WikiProject template on the same page has its own {{para|listas}} set, since it affects the sortkey of all banners and templates.
• class – see #Quality assessment below.
• importance – see #Importance assessment below.

Notes and alerts

• needs-attention – set |needs-attention=yes if the article needs immediate attention from experienced editors. Use only if another parameter does not cover the need for attention; this should be used sparingly. It is strongly encouraged to also add a section to the talk page explaining what needs attention. This parameter populates Category:Medicine articles needing attention.
• needs-infobox – set |needs-infobox=yes if the article needs an infobox. Remember that infoboxes are not suitable for all articles, and can overwhelm short articles. This parameter populates Category:Medicine articles needing infoboxes.
• selected – set |selected=yes or any non-blank value other than "no", "n" or "0". The following message will be displayed: "This article was selected on the Medicine portal as one of Wikipedia's best articles related to Medicine." This will populate Category:Medicine portal selected articles.
• dyk – set |dyk=yes or any non-blank value other than "no", "n" or "0". The following message will be displayed: "Information from this article appears on Portal:Medicine in the Did you know section." This will populate Category:Medicine portal did you know articles.
• needs-photo – set |needs-photo=yes or any non-blank value other than "no", "n" or "0". The following message will be displayed: "It is requested that an image or images be included in this article to improve its quality." This will populate Category:Wikipedia requested images of medical subjects.

• cardiology – set |cardiology=yes if the article is supported by the Cardiology task force. This parameter populates Category:Cardiology task force articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:cardiology articles by quality based on the |class= parameter. This parameter uses |cardiology-imp= to populate the relevant subcategory of Category:cardiology articles by importance.
• dermatology – set |dermatology=yes if the article is supported by Dermatology task force. This parameter populates Category:Dermatology task force articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:dermatology articles by quality based on the |class= parameter. This parameter uses |dermatology-imp= to populate the relevant subcategory of Category:dermatology articles by importance.
• emergency – set |emergency=yes if the article is supported by the Emergency medicine and EMS task force. This parameter populates Category:Emergency medicine and EMS task force articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:emergency medicine and EMS articles by quality based on the |class= parameter. This parameter uses |emergency-imp= to populate the relevant subcategory of Category:emergency medicine and EMS articles by importance.
• gastroenterology – set |gastroenterology=yes if the article is supported by the Gastroenterology task force. This parameter populates Category:Gastroenterology task force articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:gastroenterology articles by quality based on the |class= parameter. This parameter uses |gastroenterology-imp= to populate the relevant subcategory of Category:gastroenterology articles by importance.
• hemonc – set |hemonc=yes if the article is supported by the Hematology-oncology task force. This parameter populates Category:Hematology-oncology task force articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:hematology-oncology articles by quality based on the |class= parameter. This parameter uses |hemonc-imp= to populate the relevant subcategory of Category:hematology-oncology articles by importance.
• translation – set |translation=yes if the article is supported by the Translation task force. This parameter populates Category:WikiProject Medicine Translation Task Force articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:WikiProject Medicine Translation Task Force articles by quality based on the |class= parameter. This parameter uses |translation-imp= to populate the relevant subcategory of Category:WikiProject Medicine Translation Task Force articles by importance.
• society – set |society=yes if the article is supported by the Society and Medicine task force. This parameter populates Category:Society and medicine task force articles. Classification of redirects and disambiguation pages

If the |class= parameter is not defined and the WikiProject banner is placed on the talk page of a redirect (in any namespace) or disambigation page then it will automatically be classified as follows:

• Redirects will automatically be classified as Redirect-class and placed in Category:Redirect-Class medicine articles.
• Disambiguation pages will automatically be classified as Disambig-class and placed in Category:Disambig-Class medicine articles.

Classification based on namespace

In addition, if |class= is empty, undefined or unrecognized, then the class will be deduced from the namespace of the page when possible.
