The Dakota

The Dakota
The Dakota

5x expanded by Epicgenius (talk). Self-nominated at 18:43, 13 May 2022 (UTC).

General: Article is new enough and long enough

Policy compliance:

Hook eligibility:

  • Cited: No - see analysis below
  • Interesting: Yes
Image: Image is freely licensed, used in the article, and clear at 100px.
QPQ: Done.

Overall: The article was expanded more than fivefold beginning on May 11, and nominated within time on May 13. Length is adequate. The article is neutral in tone, and no plagiarism issues detected. All images used in the article have a free license on the Commons. The nominated image for the hook is used in the article, clear at a low resolution, and will greatly enhance the hook. The QPQ requirement has been completed. The sourcing is mostly well done, except for two quotes which need a citation as per WP:DYKCRIT. Will complete the review of hooks later today. Hooks analysis
  • Gray check markYg ALT0 is interesting, properly mentioned and cited inline, and would be accepted by AGF.
  • Question? ALT1 is interesting, but it is not explicitly mentioned or cited within the same sentence. Although the hook is true, it requires the reader to put two facts together, which could be questioned at WP:ERRORS.
  • Gray check markYg ALT2 is interesting, properly mentioned and cited inline, and would be accepted by AGF.
  • Gray check markYg ALT3 is interesting, properly mentioned and cited inline, and would be accepted by AGF (I altered the hook from "have" to "has").
  • Question? ALT4 is interesting, properly mentioned and cited inline, and would be accepted by AGF, but the word "you" is troublesome since it states that the reader cannot do something, whereas it is the tenant of the apartment which cannot do something.
  • Red X symbolN ALT5 is interesting, but the wording differs too much from the source to be verified. Compare the source which says "Residents are forbidden to throw away any original doors or fireplace mantels that they remove, and a storage area is provided for these items."
  • Red X symbolN ALT6 is interesting, but the wording differs too much from the corresponding text in the article to be verified. Compare "The Dakota's board had rejected numerous high-profile personalities who had wanted to move into the building", which is not the same as "rejected several potential tenants because they were famous". Rejecting a high-profile person is not the same as rejecting someone because they are famous.
  • Gray check markYg ALT7 is interesting, properly mentioned and cited inline, and would be accepted by AGF.

Overall, there are some minor concerns above, but this article is in great shape, and is a welcome contribution to Wikipedia. Flibirigit (talk) 21:27, 7 June 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for the review. I have crossed out ALT1, ALT4, ALT5, and ALT6 because of the issues you raised. (I've fixed the "original decorations" issue, but aren't original doors and fireplace mantels examples of original decorations?) As for the citation requests, they were both cited before the end of the paragraph. I have copied the ref names now. Epicgenius (talk) 04:07, 8 June 2022 (UTC)
Specifically mentioning doors and mantels is best, since "original decorations" could be other things such as light fixtures, handrails, windows, plastering and so on. Thank you for duplicating the citations. I know it is a nuisance, but necessary for DYK. Flibirigit (talk) 10:42, 8 June 2022 (UTC)
ALT0, ALT2, ALT3 and ALT7 are all approved by AGF. The nomination now adheres to all DYK criteria, and would be great as a photo hook. Flibirigit (talk) 10:42, 8 June 2022 (UTC)
