Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
QPQ: Done.

Overall: Article promoted to GA on Jan 23rd! QPQ not required. The hook (which I have tweaked a bit) provides an interesting new development that is sourced by the Deadline article provided. Krimuk2.0 (talk) 06:09, 20 January 2023 (UTC)

Oh, I wasn't aware of this. Can we change it to: ALT1: ... that Adult Swim will recast all of co-creator Justin Roiland's voice roles in Rick and Morty? Krimuk2.0 (talk) 06:17, 26 January 2023 (UTC)
Fine by me, though I'd still prefer it to mention that Roiland voices both of the titular characters if possible. ––FormalDude (talk) 01:56, 28 January 2023 (UTC)
Perhaps ALT2: ... that the voices of Rick and Morty will be recast following Adult Swim's decision to remove Justin Roiland from the show? ––FormalDude (talk) 06:42, 28 January 2023 (UTC)
theleekycauldron do either of these work? Krimuk2.0 (talk) 18:35, 29 January 2023 (UTC)
No, unfortunately, both of these would still focus unduly on a negative aspect of a living person. theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/her) 06:24, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
@Theleekycauldron: They may partly focus on a negative aspect of a living person, but I don't see how they do so unduly. It's so relevant to the TV show that I don't see how it could be interpreted as unwarranted.
If we must I guess we can drop Justin Roiland from the hook altogether and just say that a majority of the voices on Rick and Morty are being recast. ––FormalDude (talk) 10:36, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
The two revised hooks seem factual to me. I think removing mention of the criminal behavior sidesteps many of the BLP issues. –Novem Linguae (talk) 10:54, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
I have to agree with Leeky here. Even if the hooks are neutrally written, they still fall under the spirit of the rule. Rick and Morty is a very popular and long-running series: surely there are other angles that can be proposed here other than Roiland's roles being recast? Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 03:52, 7 February 2023 (UTC)

Per WT:DYK#The bounds of WP:DYK#gen4a, there seems to be loose consensus against hooks that involve Roiland's roles in the series, even indirect mentions. As such I've struck all the options involving those. MyCatIsAChonk proposed the following hooks in the aforementioned discussion, which I'm copying here:

ALT1: ... that the theme song for Rick and Morty was originally used in a rejected Cartoon Network pilot called "Dog World"?

ALT2: ... that parts of Rick and Morty are created in Adobe After Effects and Adobe Photoshop?

ALT3: ... that Rick and Morty has been compared to Futurama, South Park, and Beetlejuice?

ALT4: ... that Rick and Morty from Rick and Morty had a cameo in the 2021 film Space Jam: A New Legacy?

ALT5: ... that McDonald's returned Szechuan Sauce to their menu twenty years after being discontinued because of its numerous references in Rick and Morty?

I'm most partial to ALT5 myself (I agree with Kingsif's comments that ALTs 2 and 3 aren't great, though personally I'm not really a fan of ALT4 either), but I guess the final decision rests with consensus or with Krimuk2.0. Thanks for sorting and comments, Narutolovehinata5. Would you be willing to give ALT5 a green tick? Cielquiparle (talk) 01:05, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
@Cielquiparle: I'm willing to, but I'd like to hear FormalDude and Krimuk's thoughts first, and perhaps also Novem's. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 01:15, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
I still don't think there's anything wrong with the original alts, but I'm fine with doing ALT5 instead. Could we reword it though?
ALT5b: ... that Rick and Morty's numerous references to McDonald's Szechuan Sauce caused the restaurant to return the product to their menu after having been discontinued for twenty years?

I like ALT5b better since it mentions R&M earlier instead of at the end. Just waiting for Krimuk's response before giving this the tick, or for them to give the tick themselves. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 02:09, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
I'm cool with it. Please go ahead. Krimuk2.0 (talk) 06:31, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
Looks good to me :) –Novem Linguae (talk) 06:44, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
