Negro in Art edit

Created/expanded by Alanscottwalker (talk). Self-nominated at 20:31, 21 February 2019 (UTC).

  • New enough, just long enough, neutrally written, adequately referenced. Unable to check for close paraphrasing as all refs are offline. But the article seems to end abruptly; it does not seem complete. You describe the background, the project, and the contributors, but not the content. More description should be added on the responses to the questionnaire to bring the article up to start-class. Yoninah (talk) 20:24, 23 February 2019 (UTC)
I've waited to respond to see if anything would come to me. But to begin, I strongly disagree with your start-class claim. The article is most certainly, at at the very least, start class. Moreover, the content covered is described: "artistic freedom, character choice, writer's responsibility, publisher's attitudes, misrepresentation (effects and responses), and influence". At any rate, I'm not sure whether it is writers' block on this topic or just having used up what creativity I have for it (which does not extend to trying to rewrite the described series from multiple authors), but for the foreseeable future, I have nothing more to write on it. Thanks for your time, and feel free to improve the article, see WP:NOTFINISHED, WP:BEBOLD. Alanscottwalker (talk) 18:18, 25 February 2019 (UTC)
@Alanscottwalker: OK, I expanded it, using one of your sources and adding another source. Are you happy with it? If so, I'll call for another reviewer. Yoninah (talk) 22:58, 25 February 2019 (UTC)
  • I will also suggest a new hook. Yoninah (talk) 23:00, 25 February 2019 (UTC)
Very well. Alanscottwalker (talk) 23:21, 25 February 2019 (UTC)
  • ALT1: ... that a 1926 symposium published in The Crisis asked black and white artists to address the cultural representation of blacks in art and literature? Yoninah (talk) 23:38, 25 February 2019 (UTC)
  • ALT2: ... that leading black and white artists responded to the 1926 The Negro in Art symposium with their views on the extent that black artists could avoid racial stereotypes?
  • I'm having a problem forming a good hook because there's so little to work with in the article. Re ALT0, the article does not identify any respondent by their profession or award-winning status. Yoninah (talk) 12:18, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
  • Date and length fine. As for the hook, I am fine and am approving ALT2 only though I feel you could include the full title and it would still come under the character limit at 196 (at my estimate). A QPQ is needed @Alanscottwalker: before this can proceed. No close paraphrasing on my count. Just ping me when you've done the QPQ and I'll approve it. The C of E God Save the Queen!
