  • Comment: Great nomination Paul. I have now added an image of her....Victuallers (talk) 09:50, 5 November 2019 (UTC)
Thanks, Victuallers! Question for you or Kaybeesquared or the reviewer of this nomination: should we update the hook to mention that this photo is captioned "Holloway", a.k.a., where she was imprisoned? = paul2520 (talk) 17:11, 5 November 2019 (UTC)
How about DYK etc......Holloway brooch for hunger strike in prison for women's suffrage?

Kaybeesquared (talk) 23:06, 5 November 2019 (UTC)

ALT2: ... that Louie Cullen (pictured) was given a Holloway brooch for her hunger strike in prison for women's suffrage?
= paul2520 (talk) 23:20, 5 November 2019 (UTC)
Sorry, I moved the page. We should have only one common name, - never saw a bracket in a bio name. I also made some changes to the article, please check.
Interesting life, on good sources, no copyvio obvious. The image is licensed and shows the period well. Of the hooks above, I like ALT2 best, striking the others. I could imagine that Australia would be even more interesting than a brooch. Fell free to suggest ALT3 below - or not. I'd have some wishes for the article which you may follow or not:
Can we find her birth last name?
No text "sandwiched" between images
No one-line paragraphs
More lead, - almost a most, such a rich life!
Not sure that "artifacts" is the proper header name, how about "memorabilia"?
Thank you, Kaybeesquared, nice to meat you! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:10, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for the feedback, Gerda Arendt. All valid. I made a couple of the changes. Will do more later. = paul2520 (talk) 16:06, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
Gerda Arendt, do you think this is a legit source? [1] It mentions the husband, and suggests Clarissa is the middle name, with Mays the maiden name.
I fixed the "sandwiched" text, one-line paragraphs, and lead. I also changed the section header. Can you review again? = paul2520 (talk) 01:16, 12 November 2019 (UTC)
I think the source is better than no name, but for the article please use the English version, - the German sounds awfully translated. Please mention the precise Cullen, as there are so many.
with thanks for your work! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:10, 12 November 2019 (UTC)
Thank you Gerda Arendt Paul2520 I have quickly checked the UK Census online search for Louise Clarissa Mays and there is only one born in Suffolk in 1877, but do not have subscription to check the certificate itself (that would be a better source than the personal ancestry reference above. I am not sure if the DYK has been edited to an ALT3 mentioning Australia and would be very grateful for your experienced hands in doing so. Kaybeesquared (talk) 21:40, 20 November 2019 (UTC)
  • Hi, I came by to promote this, but do not see the connection between the Holloway brooch and her prison hunger strike in the article; it says she received the brooch to commemorate 50 years of women's right to vote in Australia. I suggest using another fact, like:
  • ALT3: ... that Louie Cullen (pictured), known as "the last of the suffragettes", started a prison hunger strike after her arrest for a 1908 attempt to rush into the House of Commons to promote women's suffrage? Yoninah (talk) 12:46, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
I approve that one but find a bit repetitious about "suffrage". --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:44, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
Thank you Yoninah I have amended the text to clarify the brooch was awarded in Britain for her imprisonment experience, and the donation to Australian museum was for the 50 year anniversary. Hope this is clearer now. Gerda Arendt Thanks for the support, perhaps the wording could be changed to say...to promote women's right to vote
- Kaybeesquared (talk) 14:50, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
I agree with Kaybeesquared. How about the slightly amended

Courtesy pinging Yoninah and Gerda Arendt. = paul2520 (talk) 16:09, 29 November 2019 (UTC)

yes, preferred. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:29, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
paul2520 Thank you for the nomination and all the support, I agree with 'ALT4' and hope your efforts pay off and it gets selected, as a very interesting DYK.
