Jacobus Deketh edit

Jacobus Deketh in 1761.

  • ... that Jacobus Deketh (pictured) was a captain in the Frisian Admiralty?

Created/expanded by Tomtomn00 (talk). Self nom at 09:37, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

  • Fails 2 key criteria. The article is to short, and the only reference is a 404 dead link. Also, in the article it says 'Frisian Admirality'. Would need more, functioning references, and an expansion to 1500+ characters to pass DYK. Also, it is uncategorized. User:Tomtomn00 has no previous DYKs, and doesn't need to review another article. --Soman (talk) 09:59, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
  • This article was on my to-do list, and what you saw was a translation of the Dutch Wikipedia. I am trying to fix grammar, and the cats are there now. Unfortunately the Friesian Admiralty archives were burned in a fire and are no longer available. So there may not be a lot of reference material around. I won't bother proposing an alt hook, as I suspect it does not qualify for DYK as being a translation of other Wiki material. I have found references from newspapers now, so definately WP:GNG material. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 13:39, 5 April 2012 (UTC)
  • Translations are fine, so long as they are fully referenced and otherwise meet the criteria. Crisco 1492 (talk) 15:10, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
  • I have now referenced everything, rewritten or deleted parts, added more text and repaired all the grammar. So if you now like the article I propose a new hook:
alt1 ... that Jacobus Deketh (pictured) was a captain of a 36 gun frigate in the Frisian Admiralty?

Article I believe is ready. Please review. --Tomtomn00 (talkcontributions) 17:57, 21 April 2012 (UTC)

  • Article is now long enough, new enough and the image is in the public domain. I have done a bit more copyediting and would go for ALT1 as being more interesting. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 05:36, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
