I have significantly rewritten the article. However, it still lacks sources. There is probably a great deal more that could be added about his military career under Umar.Petra MacDonald 13:47, 25 August 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Petra MacDonald (talkcontribs)

Correct spelling is "ibn al-Awwam" edit

@Ahendra & other editors who might read this: the correct spelling for the name of this person is "ibn al-Awwam" (with a shadda on the wāw, الزُّبَيْرُ بن العَوَّام): see for example here, or here.

Instead of "Zubayr", one can also often find the more correct "al-Zubayr" (e.g., in the Encyclopedia of Islam entry I linked), but just "Zubayr" (like Hasan for al-Hasan or Husayn for al-Husayn) is certainly also common enough. I won't voice a definite opinion on that right now, but "ibn al-Awam" should obviously be corrected to "ibn al-Awwam".

However, since Zubayr ibn al-Awwam already exists as a redirect, I cannot move the page to that title myself. I would request a move at WP:RM/TR, but since this process is only for uncontroversial moves, I would like to know if there is any objection to moving this page to Zubayr ibn al-Awwam? ☿ Apaugasma (talk ) 13:32, 24 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

thats what have bugging me either from the start i improving the article. as someone who know to read Arabic, the correct spelling should be "Awwam" with "Tasydid" on the "Wauw", however, since there are many pages that used redirect from "Awam", there will be much work to fix it. anyway i appreciate any helps to correct any "awam" redirect leftovers across wikipedia it to "awwam" Ahendra (talk) 14:07, 24 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
so from me, i agree if the page should be moved to Zubayr ibn al-Awwam Ahendra (talk) 14:08, 24 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Article being way to long edit

The article is way too long. Half of the article is about the legacy of Zubayr. I think that some portions can be removed from here and pasted in the Zubayrids article. Mohhsiin 20:40 17 December 2021 (UTC)

Birth Date edit

There's a problem of date here, as his father is said to have died yaom al ablaa, third year of the Fijar Wars. Reférence is Ibn Qutayba, in "al-Ma'ārif", given in his father's page. This seems fit with story that his mother Safya bint 'Abd al-Muttalib educated him firmly. But not with a birth date in 593, especially if he is the first of three children. Does someone has a clue here, or can point to early sources or some biography so that contradictory advices could be given ? RigOLuche (talk) 18:06, 17 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
