B&W photos

Since the article is about York railway station, aren't the black-and-white pictures of various trains on various bits of railway line superfluous and irrelevant? The one which shows the platform of the racecourse station ought to be in the not-yet-created York Racecourse railway station article. --GuillaumeTell 18:52, 22 November 2010 (UTC)

Yes, you're right, three. Google doesn't produce much information on when the racecourse station opened or closed (just this and the following page. And it's not listed in my Ian Allen pre-grouping Atlas (5th ed.), so it wasn't there in 1923. It may have closed in around 1960, but better info would be needed for an article. --GuillaumeTell 19:07, 2 March 2011 (UTC)

Link to disambiguation page from Services section

A row in the table in the Services section linked to Grand Central, which is a disambiguation page. I edited it to link to Grand Central Railway and changed that row from Template:s-rail-national to Template:rail line. Perhaps I should have kept the former template. Station management by Network Rail

I can't find evidence that the management of York transferred to Network Rail: NR don't list it as one of their stations on the website, National Rail still claim it's operated by VTEC, and York itself is still being rebranded in Virgin red, which doesn't seem like the sort of thing VTEC would do if they knew the station was going or had gone out of their hands! 144.32.5.20 (talk) 16:37, 24 July 2015 (UTC)

Infobox problem

I tried to embed a listed building section into the infobox, but was unable to do so - it seemed incompatible with GB station infoboxes - instead I had to settle for placing it as a separate infobox, as I've seen done for pages covering buildings with multiple listings that would conflict if shown in the same infobox. My addition has since been removed but does anyone know how it can be successfully re-added as York Station is Grade II* listed? EdwardUK (talk) 21:41, 23 June 2016 (UTC)

@EdwardUK: There is no need for two infoboxes. You may not have noticed, but your information was not removed - it was moved into the appropriate parameters of the existing {{Infobox UK station}}. It displays below the heading "Listed status". --Redrose64 (talk) 22:42, 23 June 2016 (UTC)

Under the route box and under ‘future services’ it shows East Coast Trains stopping at York however no evidence of a stop has been presented, yet all other East Coast Trains stops have had evidence to prove there are plans to stop at those stations. Stationmaster

There are several stationmasters listed that lack citations and a newspaper article from 1999 suggests these are inaccurate. Quote: "Catherine, 26, became station supervisor last year, and has now been appointed as GNER's customer service delivery manager at York Station - the modern equivalent of station master." - implying that the title 'stationmaster' ceased to be used before this time. The post of station master was replaced by station manager as long ago as the 1960s. Any alleged "station master" that might conceivably be still alive, and for which there is no source, is a WP:BLP violation and should be removed. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 20:31, 4 April 2020 (UTC)
