Video edit

I added the reference to chechclear.

Chechen rebels beheaded a number of Russian POWs. The POW beheaded in famous "chechenclear" video is not Yevgeny Rodionov. Fisenko 03:43, 21 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Chechclear has nothing to do with this person. The victim in that video is yet to be identified (by someone with internet access, at least). Besides the fact that you can tell just by looking at their faces that he isn't Yevgeny Rodionov there's literally zero verifiable information stating otherwise. Every time a Russian soldier is said to have been beheaded in Chechnya in 1996 or 1999 gore forum members immediately assume that the chechclear victim must be that guy. Beheading videos are ten a penny in this conflict. PCLM (talk) 15:15, 4 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
Once again I've removed all references to "chechclear" from this article. The man murdered in that video is NOT Rodionov. The only evidence suggesting that it is is the fact that Rodionov was a Russian soldier beheaded in Chechnya in 1996. Firstly, Rodionov's execution was not filmed. Secondly, the man in the video is obviously not Rodionov. Thirdly, the true identity of the man in the video (as well as his killer) is as yet unknown, although there are plenty of people on the net who'll claim otherwise without any evidence. In case this comes up again, the chechclear video has been sourced to the Dagestan massacre, and the victims have all been identified by Russian media. As it's been stated, Rodionov is not one of the victims in the video. --Iamozy (talk) 13:25, 25 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

The video of the Dagestan massacre about is of a mass-beheading [of six Russian soldiers], it is a different video that has also been labelled "Chechclear", i.e., Chechclear 2. The original "Chechclear" video of a single soldier being beheaded (as described here) remains unidentified, I was lead by other sources to erroneously believe that it was Rodionov (who appears to not have been filmed at all). Yevgeny Rodionov was not beheaded. You can see on his exhumation video that he had his throat cut (another method used is to cut each side of the neck at the juncture of neck and shoulder). Not in any way a more humane murder but it is a clear distinction. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.105.130.72 (talk) 13:17, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Do you have a link to this clip? There are a couple of videos showing exhumations of Russian soldiers in Chechnya, but none of the ones I've seen have anything to do with Rodionov. There is a clip of a mass grave containing unidentified civilians and soldiers, and there's a clip of another mass grave which contains 6 conscripts whose executions are in another clip you can find on Live Leak (it took place in Dagestan). Rodinov wasn't a part of any of these groups. PCLM (talk)
I have a tape that may be of Yevgeny's corpse, I cannot confirm due to the quality of the video and the unknown source I got it from. It shows 7 dead Russians, the 2nd could be Yevgeny as he is wearing the same style shirt as he is in the famous photo. Also a Chechnyan Soldier holds up a necklass with a cross on it that he retrieves from one of the corpses. Unfortunately it has Arabic music playing in the background and you cant hear whats being said. Is there anyone that can help confirm? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thecupfrom2girls1cup (talkcontribs) 11:36, 6 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
According to the article's sources the mother of the victim had to recover the head from a separate site when she went to retrieve the body. He was beheaded. If his murder was videotaped it has yet to find its way onto the internet. Chechclear has nothing to do with this man. PCLM (talk) 13:02, 5 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

broken link edit

Hi. The link to "neo-martyr" should be changed to a link to "New Martyr." The first term doesn't have a wikipedia article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.15.130.239 (talk) 06:15, 30 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

"executed" edit

Is "executed" the correct or best term for this? Not "murdered"--Richardson mcphillips (talk) 13:20, 23 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Basayev's brother edit

Who is this Basayev's brother? Shamil Basayev mentions one Sirvani, but it is not clear if he is his only brother. --Error (talk) 18:31, 3 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
