Fair use rationale for Image:Xnview.jpg

Image:Xnview.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Ambiguous statement

XnView is indeed capable of lossless JPEG rotation and cropping.[1] What is dubious here is the claim that this feature is "not yet common among imaging software" - IIRC ACDSee had lossless rotation in version 2.42, more than ten years ago. GregorB (talk) 14:42, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Is XnView an image organizer?

XnView is an image viewer indeed, but I wonder whether XnView is an image organizer. XnView can organize images (which does this job much better than Windows Explorer, but it appears that it has no album or collection feature, which is mentioned in the definition of an image viewer in Wikipedia.--RekishiEJ 17:35, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

In the desciption, it simply says: "XnView is a multi-platform software used for viewing, converting, organising and manipulating graphic & video files" and in the website it's pretty much the same: "XnView (v1.91.4/1.70) is an efficient multimedia viewer, browser and converter." Means that it is an image organizer as well as viewer, converter and so on. It has very similar features which many other organizing programs have, lack of an album or collection feature does not mean it is not an image organizer, as long as it can do it's job and effectively without major flaws/problems, it'll be called that.--Playtom 04:36, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

XnView has categories which behave much like e.g. Wikipedia categories: apparently, you can create a hierarchy tree, and then put a given image into one or more categories. So I'd say that it would qualify as an image organizer. GregorB (talk) 14:50, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

XnView on other pages' external links

I see a link to this page in the articles for Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, and Imagine (and possibly others, haven't checked.) Irfanview histogram note

Regarding "In addition, the display of the histogram of a picture is possible (IrfanView does not have this function)" under "Features":

Irfanview does have a histogram function. It has been there for some time actually.

Cloning of Irfanview features and dialogs

The author of Irfanview says on his website [[3]] that " XnView has been stealing/cloning features and whole dialogs from IrfanView, for 10+ years". Is this something to note in the article? Springnuts (talk) 08:39, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

Even if that is true and XnView inspires itself or even "copies"/"clones" features or the interface of irfanview, that does not make it ilegall or something like that. Many projects copy/clone other projects (wine trying to create a clone windows?). Not even mentioning the fact that the irfanview developer can say whatever he wants. In my opinion I think we should treat this with caution... are there any more sites claiming this? what is exactly said to be "copied"?. I'm OK if someone want to put that info on the irfanview article, but I'm not sure if this should be in this article... SF007 (talk) 16:19, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

About the release date of XnView 1.98.8 for Windows

According to the official site, it was release on February 28, 2012. But by using XnView 1.98.8 for Windows' "about" function, I know that the software says the release date is March 9, 2012. And [5] says that the release date is February 24, 2012. Which one is correct and should be used on the article?
