Renaming of this article

This article should be the Toulouse International Rugby Masters and not World Club Championship rugby union, specifically as it is not the World Club Championship rugby union and there has never been a World Club Championship rugby union. The participants in the competition should make it obvious that it is not as it is titled, specifically the Fiji Barbarians in the 1986 edition are not a club, nor are the Fiji XV, Western Samoa XV, Soviet Union XV, and Romania XV which all appeared in the 1990 edition. There has been no evidence of citations put forward that suggests that this tournament was the World Club Championship rugby union but there are plenty as viewing the article that suggest that it was a private tournament set up by Toulouse rugby club to pay for the improvements of their new stadium. The fact is there has never been a World Club Championship rugby union but there is one for rugby league called World Club Challenge, therefore it is recommended to change the name of the article to Toulouse International Rugby Masters as they were promoted as.79.155.36.178 (talk) 16:26, 30 March 2022 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: MOVED to Toulouse Masters (rugby union), which represents at least an at-this-time weak consensus. World Club Championship rugby union → Toulouse International Rugby Masters – There has never been a World Club Championship in Rugby Union but there are plans for the future. The tournaments listed were promoted as the Toulouse International Masters and were private tournaments with the aim to attain the money to cover the costs for improvements of Toulouse Rugby club's new stadium.   Besides the references and citations that are already covered in the article and which make it clear that this was not intended to be construed as a World Club Cup, nor a World Club Championship. The participants in the competition should make this point obvious. Specifically the Fiji Barbarians, which participated in the 1986 edition, are not a club, they are a touring team. Nor are the Fiji XV, Western Samoa XV, Soviet Union XV, and Romania XV clubs, which all appeared in the 1990 edition, they are national teams. I have listed two recent articles in regards to a future world club championship in rugby union and which make it clear this will be the first such tournament.

  I would also draw your attention to the image displayed in the news article below. It is from the 1986 final, between Toulouse (from France) and Farul Constanta (from Romania), and inscribed on the Trophy in very big lettering is International Masters de Rugby.

• Comment I'd suggest that perhaps Toulouse Masters would be a better name. Not really seeing any consistent use of international in any of the titles of the two tournaments, and don't see just 'rugby' used consistently either. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 08:56, 9 April 2022 (UTC)

  Well, as pointed out previously, the trophy presented to the winners of the competition and displayed in the image of the newspaper article (listed above) is inscribed with the words "International Masters de Rugby". However, I could live with word International being dropped, but I do think we need to add Rugby or Rugby Union to avoid the title being ambiguous, in accordance to WP:PRECISE, and to differentiate from other events that may utilise the word masters in them and also with Rugby League. So maybe, Toulouse Rugby Union Masters, or Toulouse Masters (Rugby Union). 79.155.36.178 (talk) 12:10, 9 April 2022 (UTC)

  Happy to go along with this but not sure how to do it. This discussion has been ongoing for a number of weeks now. There doesn't seem to be any objection by anyone to a name change to this article, maybe because the current title is wrong. 79.155.36.178 (talk) 11:19, 26 April 2022 (UTC)
