The Dells focus edit

The term "the Dells", as used (correctly) in this article, does not refer to Wisconsin Dells, but a large tourist mecca of which Wisconsin Dells is only a part. Indeed, the Tommy Bartlett shows and Noah's Ark, the only attractions mentioned here by name, are not in Wisconsin Dells at all - they are in Lake Delton. I don't think this is a world-shaking issue, but eventually these items should probably be rearranged. Merenta 02:42, 5 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Additions edit

I made changes to the article. It previously mentioned nothing of why the city is now called Wisconsin Dells and it mentioned nothing of the Dells Boat Tours which were what made the Dells famous to begin with. I will make other changes when I have time. I currently live in the Dells and was a tour guide on the Dells Boat Tours for 2 seasons. While I don't claim to know everything, I am still able to add some dates and facts to this article to make it more usuable to people. I hope I can help that way. I'll try to reorganise this to reflect the Lake Delton/Dells divide unless somebody else gets to it first. Cheers! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Smchase (talkcontribs) 3 April 2007

Website edit

I would like to add www.dells.com to the list of external links, simply for it's completeness of information about Wisconsin Dells, government, churches, history, community info, attractions and hospitality industry. --Adlitinc (talk) 21:01, 17 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I don't believe this is a good link to include. It doesn't really give any more info than the Dells' official site does. It doesn't provide a high value for the article. It's main "pro" for inclusion is that it lists a lot of attractions in the Dells, but Wikipedia isn't supposed to be a directory. -Freekee (talk) 05:41, 19 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
I look at the www.dells.com website; the city of Wisconsin Dells does has its official website in it. I do not care for the website that is now link to this article. It does not contain the information that www.dells.com has especially with the government and history of the Dells. My suggestion removed the present one and put the www. dells.com in or just link the official government website from the website to the article itself. Either way the Wisconsin Dells official city weblink will have to be link to this article.Thank you-RFD (talk) 16:21, 19 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
There is a Wisconsin Dells Chamber of Commerce website that could be put in but it is being updated right now.Linking the official city website of Wisconsin Dells would be the best solution. Thank you-RFD (talk) 17:55, 19 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Like other cities, there should be an external link should be to the official city website. It is reasonable to link to the Chamber of Commerce too. I don't support adding external links to any other website. Any other website, possibly including dells.com, could be used as a source if it meets the reliable source guideline. I'm not sure if this website meets it or not. I guess that would depend on how its used. The website reminds me of the many coupon books that you find when you visit Wisconsin Dells. There's a time and a place for them, but I don't see why Wikipedia is the right venue. I'm watching this page, so I'll watch for others to possibly change my mind. I have given a stern message to User:Adlitinc that using your employer's name as a username is against Wikipedia WP:USERNAME policy and that it needs to be changed before he/she edits again or it will need to be blocked. The user could have been blocked immediately by an admin for being promotional. The present link to Bennett and the newspaper should be removed IMHO. The newspaper link doesn't work. The Chamber of Commerce for wisconsin dells is no longer an active organization. The new offical city government website has been moved from www.dells.com to http://www.citywd.govoffice2.com/. I will have some history updates on General Joseph Bailey later. --JasperKooij (talk) 15:16, 20 December 2007 (UTC)(adlitinc username change worked).Reply

I will added the city of Wisconsin Dells government website to the article. It can always be removed. Thank you-RFD (talk) 16:08, 20 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Great! Everything is falling into place. Thanks all around. Royalbroil 19:09, 20 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Encyclopedic Entry? edit

What is the relevance or significance of this entry? It does not appear as relevant as some other city/municipal entries.--75.9.73.55 (talk) 01:53, 29 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
