About Hidden line removal edit

'The link to hidden "line removal" is redirected to hidden face removal... wich is NOT the same. You can render a scene in just wireframe where faces are not shown and therefore become irrelevant. In case you want to avoid to draw lines that are on the backside of an object in wireframe mode you have to do the uniqe process of hidden LINE removal.

It should therefore be described on a uniqe page and not be falsely redirected.

This is missing out on the Web Design use of "wireframe" edit

OK – so lets get web interaction wireframe definition rolling- here is a starter for ten:

The Wireframe concept is also used by web page interaction designers. A wireframe schematic is created to show how the structure of the web site fits together, where all the items go. It is a tool which assists the migration of a web application design project through its various stages of Understanding, Designing, Building and Evaluation. --82.6.82.69 17:07, 20 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Root page concept, and hierarchy edit

This is one of many good pages that come under the heading of Animation. There was a lot of duplication occuring, and a major cleanup was needed on some pages. I have tried to do this using a hierarchy from a 'Root page'. See Talk:Animation for further discussion. --Lindosland 14:02, 30 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Spam links? edit

Is it just me or are those external links pretty spammy?

general comment on complete article edit

This article (wireframe model) serves no purpose. It is larded with jargon and therefore unclear to those who need an explanation, but it is not sufficiently advanced to be of use to experts. Would someone please re-write it at a more elementary level?

Wireframe, wire-frame or wire frame? edit

I came to this article specifically to find out whether I should be using wireframe, wire-frame or wire frame, and am surprised to see ALL THREE used in it! The title is hyphenated, the image captions use a single word, and it appears as both one and two words within the text of the article. There must be a correct way to write it. Even if not the article should at least be consistent within itself. 121.223.239.193 (talk) 01:30, 12 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Sources are inconsistent, although this article ought to be consistent. In any case all three appear to be acceptable. Dcoetzee 02:01, 12 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hello edit

This is one of the CAs for your class. I would suggest you to please consider adding references and citations to this article. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page for any help.

This article has blended 2 wireframe definitions: viz & modeling edit

This article has blended wireframe display (3D Computer Graphics) with pre Solid Modeling techniques ( CAD/modeling )

I'm only on my lunch break, so, I ain't woiking on it now, but, just sayin! Bodysurfinyon (talk) 18:05, 26 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

GOCE edit

Working on this article. --Bddmagic (talk) 20:54, 8 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

  • 'Uses of the wireframe model' section is totally missing references.....so I can't really see keeping it in right now. --Bddmagic (talk) 16:06, 16 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Difference between a wire-frame model and a polygon mesh? edit

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
To not merge, but to link with a see also template. Klbrain (talk) 16:43, 7 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Since it's not really clearly explained in the article, what is the difference between a wire-frame model and a polygon mesh? According to the article 3D rendering, 3D rendering is the "process of automatically converting 3D wire frame models into 2D images on a computer," which leads me to think that a wire-frame model is just the same thing as a polygon mesh, since polygon meshes are what is usually used in 3D rendering. If they are the same thing, why do we have two different articles for them? —Kri (talk) 00:15, 26 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Merge Polygon mesh into this article edit

It seems like this article and the article Polygon mesh are about roughly the same things, so having two separate articles seems unnecessary since a lot of the information is duplicated. Therefore, I propose that we merge this article into Polygon mesh Polygon mesh into this article. —Kri (talk) 12:43, 14 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

On the other hand, since it seems to be possible to make use of bent curves, like arcs, in a wire-frame model (see the Lego-brick-like model in the article), perhaps wire-frame models is a broader concept and a superset of polygon meshes. Thoughts about this? If no feedback is given soon, I will regard it as an acceptance of the merge request. —Kri (talk) 15:44, 10 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Kri: Unless you can find reliable source that describes "polygon mesh" as a synonym for "wireframe," the two articles probably should not be merged. Jarble (talk) 21:01, 10 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
I guess we could add a section about polygon meshes in this article (and use the template "{{main}}" to link to the Polygon mesh article from the top of that section). I think the problem I have with the current organization is that it's not really clear how polygon meshes and wire-frame models are related to each other. Would that be a reasonable solution? —Kri (talk) 20:32, 11 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
Also, would you agree that a polygon mesh is a kind of wire-frame model, or is that not really true? —Kri (talk) 20:37, 11 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
I agree the articles could use some cleaning up to mention differences, but I also agree merger isn't appropriate. Can we remove the merge templates? They're rather unsightly to the reader. - Temporary Taxman (talk) 23:39, 12 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Given the above, I've removed the templates and replaced with a 'see also at the top of the page, as I found it hard to find or create a suitable section in which such a template could sit. Klbrain (talk) 16:43, 7 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
