Wikipedia coverage of the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine → Wikipedia and the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine – This seems to be more what the article is trying to reach, the current name simply does not touch the content of this article. Proposed move edit
Wikipedia and the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine -> Wikipedia coverage of the Russian invasion of Ukraine
In 2014 Wikipedia editor Ihor Kostenko is on List of people killed during the Revolution of Dignity and was Wikipedian of the Year for that. This story begins before 2022 and a more general name change would encourage a more complete telling of the story.
I do not have a source, but in Wikimedia New York City, during the board election we had a group discussion to support votes for Ukrainian WMF trustee Nataliia Tymkiv as a way to support better access to Wikipedia in their home region.
Also I think it is reasonable to expect that restrictions to accessing Wikipedia in the region will last beyond 2022. Getting rid of the year adds longevity to this article. Bluerasberry (talk) 03:21, 29 March 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose: This article isn't about Wikipedia during the Revolution of Dignity; it's about Wikipedia during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. If you're suggesting expansion to include other conflicts in Ukraine, we'd need a different title than suggested. (The Revolution of Dignity wasn't an invasion, it was a revolution/protest.) Also, removing the year is just incorrect here, as the year in the current title isn't describing the restrictions on Wikipedia; it describes the time frame of the invasion itself. Finally, we already moved away from the word "coverage". See the move request directly above this one. Bsoyka (talk) 04:45, 29 March 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose this a broader proposal. I have explained above why "coverage" is too narrow a term. The Euromaidan was not an invasion, it was a Revolution. Kostenko was killed by Ukrainian security forces, not by Russian troops.
