UK-focussed: expand or rename?Edit

This page is extremly uk focused, i'm going to expand it to include other restoration projects, just as soon as i get this damned essay done, which i should really be doing right now, rather than editing wiki, right, essay, joyous Struds 22:55, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

I think this page might better be renamed 'waterway restoration in the UK'. Is there any way within wiki to find out which other pages link here in order to check the context of incoming links?Derek Andrews 00:27, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
There is, click on "What links here" in the box on the left. (Note that you need to do so from the article page rather than the talk page.)
Renaming is premature. When the article has gained sufficient worldwide scope and bulk, the UK content may be split-off into a new sub-page, such as Waterway restoration in the United Kingdom. For now, this is the main page about the subject, and needs expanding to include activities in other countries.

Stream restoration describes processes to improve environmental conditions in a stream or river. The term, as used in the U.S., does not focus on navigability and does not include canal restoration. Does waterway restoration include improving water quality in natural waterways? Moreau1 (talk) 14:54, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Completed (UK) restorationsEdit

The 'completed restoration' section needs checking please. I'm sure I have missed plenty.Derek Andrews 00:19, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

You sure about the grand western? They were certianly looking to (and working on) go beyond Lowdwells Lock as recently as 2005.Geni 14:30, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
I'm not sure. Either way it is hard to know how to classify a waterway like this which was partially restored many years ago and now is being extended. I should add that I am an expat and been out of the restoration loop for 20 something years, so may well have missed something. I do know that WRG have been doing some work there recently, but I got the impression this was excavation / preservation work on certain structures rather than restoration. Again, hard to know if that now pushes this waterway back to the 'under restoration' category.Derek Andrews 16:40, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
Da most of the WRG work has been improvement but they cleared the section beyond Lowdwells Lock of trees in 2005 and I understand the actual lock has been dug out and they plan on getting as far as the road.Geni 17:09, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
