Overseas Territories edit

There are modifications to take into account the UK-CD Customs Union

The Customs (Tariff-free Access for Goods from British Overseas Territories) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020

PART 3

Crown Dependencies: Modifications 7.—(1) The provisions of the Act and of these Regulations, as modified by regulations 8 and 9, having regard to the existence of the United Kingdom – Crown Dependencies Customs Union, have effect in respect of the customs matters covered by these Regulations. (2) In paragraph (1), “the United Kingdom – Crown Dependencies Customs Union” means, collectively, the customs union arrangements which were specified in the Exchange of Letters and the Arrangements referred to in the following Orders in Council— (a)The Crown Dependencies Customs Union (Guernsey) (EU Exit) Order 2019(5);

(b)The Crown Dependencies Customs Union (Isle of Man) (EU Exit) Order 2019(6);

(c)The Crown Dependencies Customs Union (Jersey) (EU Exit) Order 2019(7).

Customs and Monetary Union edit

Customs Union

A customs union is generally defined as a type of trade bloc which is composed of a free trade area with a common external tariff.

[1][2]

Currency /Monetary Union

A currency union (also known as monetary union) is an intergovernmental agreement that involves two or more states sharing the same currency.

[3] [4]

The provision of this agreement alongside other arrangements would meet the conditions for this to be defined as Customs and Monetary Union, but as full term is yet to to be used in entirety the title of the cannot yet be changed.

@Kaihsu: I need clarification, when naming articles, does the full term need to be used or can an article name be changed if it meets the criteria for the two terms separately?.ChefBear01 (talk)

In this case, the name would be a proper noun (in capital case). There need to be secondary sources both making such a characterization of the entity as a customs and monetary union (or economic and monetary union), as well as using the term as a proper noun. At the moment, there is not even such characterization in any source, let alone use as a proper noun. Kaihsu (talk) 11:36, 2 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Also, none of the dependencies are states at international law. Kaihsu (talk) 06:29, 3 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

The Queen acts on their behalf internationally through the UK privy council, who then acts on her behalf to ensure they meet their obligation, they can enter into agreements but only under certain circumstances and only with UK’s consent.[1] ChefBear01 (talk) 19:05, 4 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Article Name edit

Please don't make up new names that doesn't exist. Kaihsu (talk) 12:11, 20 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

The name I used for the article exists and is clearly supported within the documents and the citations, the document and citation clearly point to them establishing a customs union between the Crown Dependencies and the United Kingdom.
The citations clearly points to this:
Citation 4

Customs Arrangement (the “UK-CD Customs Union”) between the UK and the Crown Dependencies, enabling the Islands to enjoy the benefit of free trade

Citation 5

The arrangement with :the Channel Islands means that the islands will become part of customs union arrangements, creating a United Kingdon and Crown Dependencies Customs Union.

Citation 10

Collectively these arrangements will establish a UK – Crown Dependencies customs union.

Citation 12

An important difference in the new Arrangement is that the Channel Islands will become part of the customs union arrangements, creating a United Kingdom and Crown Dependencies Customs Union.

Currencies edit

@Kaihsu: All of the crown dependencies currencies are variants of the Pound Sterling (Local Issues), that is why I tried to find a single article that covers all of the them as it would be neater than trying to list them individually.

The Manx Pound is the same as the other local currencies it does not have a different status to the other two.

Please can you revert your edit. ChefBear01 (talk) 11:10, 21 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Arrangement vs agreement edit

I think “arrangement” is used because “agreement” may imply “treaties” which the dependencies cannot make – a minor detail perhaps. – Kaihsu (talk) 19:06, 30 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Yes, that is consistent with the sources and documents. ChefBear01 (talk) 19:37, 30 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
