Ukraine? edit

Can you explain why Ukraine are marked as eliminated? They could win their last game 5-0 and be above Northern Ireland (assuming they get beat) surely? Not sure why they don't make these competitions easy to follow!! 92.237.234.100 (talk) 21:03, 16 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

What "5–0"? Forgot about goal difference! Head-to-head primary (This is UEFA, not FIFA). NIR won above UKR. All. UKR last place. GAV80 (talk) 21:06, 16 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Ukraine still has a chance if NIR loses last match and Ukraine wins. NIR's loss and Ukraine's win has to be 6 goals combined.2602:304:B1F0:1C20:61FB:5672:7E41:F5EB (talk) 02:36, 17 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

don't understand what you've explained, GAV80?? Oh well... 92.237.234.100 (talk) 10:46, 17 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
He's saying goal difference is not the first tie-breaker. Since Northern Ireland beat Ukraine, Ukraine cannot finish above Northern Ireland and are therefore eliminated. – PeeJay 11:04, 17 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

You can always read this from UEFA that states Germany and Poland draw to end Ukraine's campaign. Head-to-head record comes before goal differential and Northern Ireland defeated Ukraine. Qed237 (talk) 11:41, 17 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

I came here to post the same thing. I guess if it's accurate, fine, but it's a stupid rule. Goal difference should be used instead of head-to-head. Teams are playing against the entire group, not just one opponent. If Ukraine did better OVERALL than Northern Ireland (as judged by having the same amount of points and a better goal difference), they should still advance even though they lost head to head. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.183.133.137 (talk) 18:19, 17 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
