"(Just because the attack is not NAMED the same thing, doesn't mean that it isn't. Consensus among the community is that the Turn X uses the Shining Finger, albeit under a different name.)"

In regards to that...

...that makes no sense. Different name? Gim Ginganam calls the attack "Shining Finger".

However, he does not use his magic kung-fu powers. He simply uses the weapon attached to the Turn X's right arm- the Youdanhasai Manipulator. It has a similar effect to that of the Shining Gundam's Shining Finger, but is pretty damned obviously not the same thing.

For the love of god, just refer to the Turn X's entry on ja.wikipedia.org. "Youdanhasai Manipulator (Ginganam calls it 'Shining Finger')". Ginganam CALLS IT "Shining Finger". But it's just another bloody weapon attached to the thing's arm.

You can refer to any other Japanese source, for that matter. And "consensus among the community" means nothing when it goes up against FACT.

And how, exactly, does a pilot with a liking for red mobile suits relate to the UC and AU timelines being merged together? You might as well say that Star Trek and Star Wars take place in the same timeline because they both have spaceships. Or that Finland and China are the same place because they both have toilets. It's just plain absurd.

Paragraph starting with:

"Turn A" (∀) in the title of the series is the universal quantifier used in discrete mathematics

  • I don't know about the origins of the universal quantifier symbol, but I do know that in LaTeX the symbol is given the name \forall, and is not also \any. Ted 23:09, 28 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

source edit

About the most recent edit, Re: Tomino wanting Turn-A to be a summary of all his giant robo shows, not just Gundam - is there any official source for that? If it's just a rumor, then we should take it out - otherwise, it's a fantastic little tidbit that needs to be better integrated into the article.Virogtheconq 23:50, 26 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Similarity to Israeli-Palestine conflict? edit

As I was watching Turn-A Gundam, I realized that the conflict between the Moonrace and the Earth people was inspired by the situation in Israel and Palestine, respectively. Not the many similarities between Israel and the Moonrace:

  1. The Moonrace claimed their right to return to their homeland, much like how many Jewish people claimed their right of Aliyah
  2. The Moonrace displaced the living areas of the Earth people, much how the settling Israelis displaced much of the resident Palestinian population
  3. The Moonrace has highly advanced weaponry and technology compared to the Earth people

...except Jewish people always inhabitated those lands even as a minority group (in contrast of Moonrace sending scouts first). Also Moonrace kind of fear the Earth because of the UC history, but the Jews always prayed three times at day turning themselves to Israel.

Official title? edit

Since there's no official English release (well, at least in the US - dunno about the UK) of Turn-A, I'm pretty sure the original version had the title screen completely in English - ie, the full untranslated title of the show is &forall Gundam (called Turn 'A' Gundam), in Japan and elsewhere. So I wonder if we should add a little anecdote about that or just leave it up to the reader to see the screenshot and make the connection.

Gym Ghingham, Loran Cehack, and the "Native Amerian King": Newtypes? edit

In the SRW game that he appears in Loran has the seishin "Flash", but no Newtype ability. However, in the series he has strange burts of agility and strength (during his swordfight with the Native Amerian "king", his fight with Tethys, and the final swordfight with Ghinham), and seemingly communitcates with the king telepathically as they fight, and small white "waves" appear as they do so. When he fights Tethys, a small white effect akin to the newtype flash appears. Ghinham also pilots bit-like weapons on the Turn X, although this could be explained by some UC technlogogy used to give oldtypes an advantage. Are advanced/enhanced humans, newtypes, or the next step in evolution? I can't provide screenhots of those scenes right now, but yo might be able to verify their existance. Also, is there an mention of this in interviews and official material? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 74.234.208.233 (talk) 01:53, 13 April 2007 (UTC).Reply

This article is a joke. edit

There is no plot overview, other than "Lol earth and moon fighting each other!". There is no description of the characters involved at all. The entire article is basically talking about the cameos from other gundam shows in it and theories that it was supposed to link all the different gundam universes together instead of, you know, THE ACTUAL SHOW ITSELF. Question2 20:16, 18 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Agreed, some of the article even repeats itself word for word. Dissapointing. 69.207.42.15 (talk) 06:11, 9 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Seconded. This article should be rewritten from the ground up so it's less of a pointless clusterfuck. Kouban (talk) 19:06, 21 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
The problem here would be, That is one of the main point of the show. It is used to link all of the Gundams together and stop the company from creating newer Gundam shows (which failed miserably) There is some plot summary in the article, and wikipedia's stand on these kind of articles are actually not plot summary but Why is the show notable. The Japanese wiki got pretty much the same weight on plot summary. MythSearchertalk 19:39, 21 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

name of characters edit

Although I commented Will Game as not sourced from the source I provided, it got the same CV Kenichi Sakaguchi(坂口賢一) as listed in the Japanese page and should be correct. If anyone can double check the anime, please do so and delete the comment, thank you. MythSearchertalk 13:45, 23 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I wouldn't put too much time into the "Cast & Crew" sections, since the one in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny was recently removed, citing WP:MOS-AM and WikiProject Anime and manga consensus. --Silver Edge (talk) 21:43, 23 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
The question is, what consensus? I see no discussion on the talk page of MOS-AM and the archive talks only about removing non-Japanese and English casts and such... MythSearchertalk 05:33, 24 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
I don't know, but perhaps he was talking about #4 in WP:MOS-AM#Series or the WikiProject talk page. --Silver Edge (talk) 23:38, 24 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Still, I could see no such consensus in the above talk pages. I should assume good faith, but this sounds a bit fishy right now. In the Production section of the series part, it states that notable production staff (typically: directors, leading voice actors, and sometimes producers or other personnel). Thus the MOS-AM page is actually encouraging the addition of such info. If it exists in the super old talk archive, the consensus might have changed and worth discussed again. Title edit

Why is the title spelled "turn A gundam"? the title should use it's official spelling. Yes it's pronounced turn a gundam but the official name still uses the symbol. i will move it to how it should look like. Any objections? Bread Ninja (talk) 18:03, 26 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Per WP:COMMONNAME, Turn A Gundam is the name used by almost all English language publications. In fact, Wikipedia is unusual in that it is one of the few places that gives ∀ Gundam as an alternative name. --Farix (Talk) 01:11, 27 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Does anyone think that the unicode character should be “Ɐ” (U+2C6F; LATIN CAPITAL LETTER TURNED A) and not the math “∀” (U+2200; FOR ALL)?

is there any official publication that indicate the latter Unicode should be used instead?

if the story simply used a upside-down A in the title/artwork without any indication, i think then the U+2C6F should be used? because the math “For All” character is really for math.

That math symbol is always rendered without serif. But in the artwork poster, i see that it does contain serif. P0lyglut (talk) 22:13, 1 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Well, the motif of Turn A Gundam is to include and conclude all Gundam series, thus it is taking the "For all" meaning of Turn A. —Preceding signed comment added by MythSearchertalk 07:02, 2 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Proposed merge with WD-M01 Turn A Gundam edit

The robot doesn't really seem to have enough to stand alone as an article, but it does have some info worth merging. TTN (talk) 16:25, 7 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
