Could someone more interested in this article than I, move the Contents square to near the top of the page, instead of it's middle? Thanks!

Errata edit

Even tho it is said that both the Zavikon islands are in Canadian territory, Google maps would suggest that both are in the US territory. Alas, the referenced article requires registration to be read. Nevertheless, somewhere there's an error. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.183.49.82 (talk) 04:26, 21 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Google maps is incorrect edit

On navigation charts of the Thousand Islands region, Zavikon Island is visibly on the Canadian side of the river. I'll add an additional reference of a NOAA navigation chart that displays Zavikon being on the Canadian side. http://www.charts.noaa.gov/OnLineViewer/14772.shtml --Farmer88 (talk) 18:24, 26 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

This article contains two different, contradictory, explanations for the origin of Thousand Island dressing.

Errata edit

I am a tour guide in the Thousand Islands region. I have looked at charts and can confirm that the Zavikons are in Canada. But I also know that there are two more artificial islands, Flowerpot in front of Calumet in Clayton, and an island built as a tennis court off the end of Cherry Island. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.127.166.135 (talk) 07:01, 28 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Dressing section "links" edit

Several references in the Dressing section are just plain text rather than being proper references/hyperlinks. They need fixing. -- Dough34 (talk) 19:00, 20 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Article image edit

The image shows one tree on an island, but the article states that two are needed to count as one of the Thousand Islands. Dalliance (talk) 21:54, 16 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, the 'definition' of what constitutes as island here is problematic. The article previously stated that only one tree was required, but it was unsourced and tagged as needing a citation. When I went seeking the official definition, I didn't find much (maybe somebody else can come up with a better search string), however what I did find seemed to agree that two trees were needed. (Plenty of shoddy sources regurgitating the 'one tree' claim that seemed to just be copying the wiki page; I gave preference to older sources for that reason.) What complicates things is that my recollection from working in the area years ago was that it was more a requirement that the island support multiple woody individuals (which would include shrubs); this could easily be lazily interpreted as meaning 'trees' by writers on a deadline. Of course I can find nothing official to back this up, so I have to go with what the sources say.
But really, that's clearly just somebody's vacation photo and I would shed no tears if something better replaced it. It's really a poor representation of the region regardless. Antepenultimate (talk) 02:01, 17 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
Currently it says two trees near the top of the article and one tree further down. Mr Larrington (talk) 14:19, 11 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
