page expanded edit

i have edited this page heavily and i hope added some useful info. it still seems like more references would be nice and i would like more information on the situation in france, where the teknival phenomenon is massive. i hope to add more info later. Mujinga 14:18, 4 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

joke sites edit

i removed the two links below because they are joke sites:

  • Teknival 2006 The next teknival in France
  • Teknival 2007 Yet another french Teknival: the TekNeuNeuval will take place in 2007 in Drönesia

Mujinga 12:50, 4 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

You're wrong : it's not jokes ! it's very serious : humour is always very serious. many french people (Djs or activists from the techno field) are againts teknival, and they often argue with humoristic web site. it's french subculture too !

to the person who left the note above ... you are requested to leave your user name when you use the talk pages ... your ip is still logged of course.

you are responding to the deletion of the two jokes sites, which you have added again under a new section. i have kept the sites in, but moved them to the external sites section and mentioned that they are humorous.

is that ok with you?

i dont want to get into a fight (and so i wont because a fight needs two participants). it's not about wrong or right, it is about wikipedia being a great free information resource. if someone wants to find out what a teknival is, then maybe your two joke sites can give that person one point of view, but then they should be labelled as joke sites, becuase if someone who does not know any better stumbles across something on your site, perhaps the flyer publicising a white power nazival for example, they might not realise it is a joke. especially because both the sites are in french. i agree that big tekno parties are sometimes bad, dangerous, annoying etc but i also think a teknival can be a powerful tribal experience and there is nothing necessarily wrong with making a TAZ massive.

if you are from france or know about the french tekno scene, maybe you can add a bit more info on the marigny law? Mujinga 17:51, 17 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

scumtek edit

were there really 2 scumteks in 2005? i will ask around...Mujinga 09:37, 16 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yep, can provide photographic evidence! Also is this verifiable:
In France amendments to a Public Safety bill were passed in 2001 giving the police similar powers :to those exercised by the police in the United Kingdom under the Criminal Justice and Public Order :Act 1994 but the large size of the free tekno movement compels the government to permit three :large teknivals every year: Paris (May), West (July) and South (August)
Rex the first 00:36, 18 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
there were indeed a couple of scumteks apparently, but the first one was a planned teknival (which got shut down early), the others im not sure about ...
as regards the marigny law, there is an oblique reference in the footnoted bbc article and it certainly has been the case that there have been the three big teknivals in 2001,2002 and 2003, later than that im not sure and this year there is a bit of confusion as a result of the strasbourg demo april 15 clashing with the paris may 1 date

doof merging edit

i would like to get rid of this doof merger box ... i would say its better to keep the doof page separate but then to refer to it here in the teknival article. they are linked, but different, because teknivals are a european, free party phenomenon which are always free whereas the term doof appears to be australian and doofs seem to be either free or paid. Mujinga 18:55, 13 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

agreed. (buna, pt)

ok then, im removing the box and linking the two articles Mujinga 23:07, 27 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

neutrality box edit

why dispute the neutrality of the article and then not make any suggestions as to how it should be improved??? in my opinion, this article reads pretty good and keeps a NPOV standpoint all the way through. orangepeel, anyone else, please suggest how we can make this article better ... 00:48, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

As the article says, "If you add the above code to an article which seems to be biased to you, but there is no prior discussion of the bias, you need to at least leave a note on the article's talk page describing what you consider unacceptable about the article. " Mujinga 00:53, 16 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

These events are "raves" in all but name edit

They're indentical, really. If you have any knowledge of rave history just read this article from top to bottom and you'll see that these events are simply an updated form of the raves/free festivals which took place in the late 80s/early 90s. As such, I think this doesn't need to be a standalone article. --kingboyk 12:00, 3 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I disagree, I think some people, especially Europeans/Americans rather than Brits perhaps, would come to Wikipedia looking for teknival rather than rave. They are different terms to me because raves are often legal and cost money (and i have to say the term itself sounds outdated and I wouldnt use it) whereas teknivals are always free and often illegal. I have linked to teknival from within the rave page before, but I dont see the link there now so I will add a new link. I think there is enough teknival info to justify a stand-alone page, especially since the rave page is pretty big (and messy) already. Mujinga 23:21, 8 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Subculture section citations edit

I have added four references to the subculture section, so I have removed the boxes for {{originalresearch}} and {{sources}}. I could also add De Haro, S., Estève, W. 3672 La Free Story, Trouble Fête, ISBN 2-914253-01-X which has some good stuff, although it is written in French not English. Mujinga 00:45, 9 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

illegal edit

the article doesn't mention why it is illegal. why are they illegal? 89.243.76.147 (talk) 17:35, 17 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

note edit

burning man is non relevant towards the all-european birth and growth of teknivals. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.17.202.189 (talk) 20:36, 16 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page edit

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Below is a list of links that were found on the main page:

Triggered by \bwikicities\.com\b on the global blacklist

If you would like me to provide more information on the talk page, contact User:Cyberpower678 and ask him to program me with more info.

criminalisation edit

its absolutly not right, that they are often illegal. Most of them are legal. How could tousend of people come together for a weekend or more and nobody else would hear from that? That would not work nowadays! People who tell that are living behind the moon or are just trying to make this scene bad, they make criminalisation! ps: Fact is, that lots of this events are not written in the newspapers ore something like that because they want a network of poeple they know each other already more or less. So its more peaceful and not so much people who like lot of alcohol and fast grils. --77.56.118.154 (talk) 13:05, 7 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
