Sanctioned Rachmaninoff revision

What is the "sanctioned Rachmaninoff revision"? Most performances today are uncut, some even including the first movement exposition repeat. Grover cleveland 10:50, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

Recordings

It would be nice if this page included comments on some excellent or possibly definitive recordings of this symphony that are currently available.--Josh 02:49, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

True, there is no such thing as a definitive recording, especially in a work such as this in which there are issues of repeats and cuts. However, there are recordings which are noteworthy, for obvious reasons, such as the first recording of a piece, one conducted by the composer (sadly, Rachmaninoff didn't record his Second Symphony although he recorded the Third), or those which have been acclaimed by critics or won awards. It seems to me that the list on the page has become overgrown with "also rans". So I will be trimming the list. I am also changing the term uncut to complete.THD3 (talk) 14:46, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
