Talk:Supreme Court of the Philippines

A few changes. It is not proper to call the Supreme Court an agency, it is a court. Instead, I copied the text from the Constitution that vests administrative control in the Supreme Court of all other courts. Also, it is not technically correct to say that the Chief Justice "leads" the other justices. The justices adhere to the principle that the Chief Justice is "primus inter pares" (first among equals). And lastly, the new Supreme Court building, in use since 1990, is located along Padre Faura. It is the old Supreme Court building (now Office of the Court Administrator) that is along Taft Avenue. First S.C. Justice Bribery Case in history edit

Since 1901, our judiciary's highest tribunal suffered the greatest humiliation when scandal rocked the Court with a lady justice put on all the headlines.

Small Claims Court Pilot Project Launched edit

I would not like to put this great project in the article, since it is titled Small Claims. So, I opted to put it in the External link and here, since thousands of students and lawyers and judges need a copy of this and they will upload this. HOPE, they see this in the E. link.

Official link changed edit

The old link of the official website of the Philippine Supreme Court was changed from the old http://www.supremecourt.gov.ph/ to the new: http://sc.judiciary.gov.ph/ Hence, all former links of the e-library and decisions added or edited here in Wikipedia are deemed dead links and you can now look at them all in this new link.--Bar 2009 (talk) 06:45, 16 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Possible Culpable violation of the Constitution? edit

Justice Alicia Austria-Martinez retired from the Court on 30 April 2009. As of today, 03 August 2009, no replacement has been appointed yet by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo despite the Judicial and Bar Council's submission of the list from which she will choose the next Justice. Aside from the question as to whether the President can reject a list submitted by the JBC, it also is submitted that there is a possibility that the President is committing culpable violation of the Constitution in failing to appoint a Justice against the clear mandate of Sec. 4, Art. VIII of the 1987 Constitution requiring any vacancy to be filled 90 days from its occurence.

Complete list of Justices edit

I'm looking for a complete list of all justices of the Supreme Court hopefully with accurate term periods. Aniloy (talk) 03:03, 30 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

"Since the courts' creation, English had been used in court proceedings." edit

This statement seems inaccurate. There are Supreme Court decisions as recently as 1951 (possibly even later) that are in Spanish: http://www.lawphil.net/judjuris/juri1951/jun1951/gr_l-3374-75_1951.html

Could it then be presumed that the proceedings were conducted in Spanish? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 112.205.116.188 (talk) 09:37, 6 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
