Regarding the Sgt. Rock incarnation of the Suicide Squad (aka Suicide Squad volume 2 as written by Keith Giffen).

A number of JSA members are listed as being Squad members. They are not. They merely guest-starred.

Membership

It's Rick Flag

Regarding the recent reversions, Rick Flag, Jr. spells his name with one "g." Reuben Flagg spells his name with two, which may be the source of the confusion.TheronJ 16:07, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Suggestion

According to the Rick Flag page, Rick Flag Sr was a member of a "Suicide Squadron" and "Task Force X" before the beginning of the Rick Flag Jr./Karen Grace incarnation.

1. Does anyone know enough about that version to write something up? Was it actually published or just a retcon?
2. In general, it might be helpful for the page to clarify when it's referring to Rick Flag Jr. or Rick Flag Sr.

Fictional?

Love the cleanup effort so far. My question is more of an asthetic thing..that is, is it necessary to dub things as "Fictional history" or "Fictionaly biography"? It seems like you could drop the fictional, the same message would be implied and it would look better (and have less chance of confusing anyone) Darquis 19:44, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

Russian Task Force X

Missing Members

In the one mission section under Task Force X, didn't want to add them myself so i'll put them here. "Pathfinder, with a corrosive touch; Kaliber, who fired bolts of his kirilian aura (from a special gun); Metamorpheus, who could take the shape of anyone he touched (and possibly saw) as well as turn his arms into blades; and Sidewinder, whose lower torso and legs could become a snake like tail. (Suicide Squad #64-66)"[1]

And on Jess Bright who became Koschei. "Bright was found by the Chinese who nursed him back to health. He then passed onto the Russians who transformed him into the bionic monster called Koshchei the Deathless. With his expertise in engineering, Bright assisted in the creation of the Rocket Red Brigade and lent a hand to the nation of Qurac in assembling their metahuman team, the Jihad."[2] —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Basique (talk • contribs) .

Punch and Jewelee

The "Punch and Jewelee" article redirects to this page. They are mentioned once in the article. That mention consists of an entry in a list of Task Force X members. Therefore, there is no information on Wikipedia about who Punch and Jewelee are. Shouldn't they have an article (not everyone knows who they are after all). New Suicide Squad

I have the arrticle in front of me, and they're listing Master Jailer, Resurrection Man, Dr. Poison, and Jason Todd as members of the new team, according to Rucka. SHould we put that on the page or wait for the issue to come out? Scarletspeed7 16:08, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

That's not according to Rucka. That's the Suicide Squad Wizard would like to see. Considering also that we've seen Mirror Master and Bronze Tiger on the covers, I assume they're included, unlike in the Wizard article. Kusonaga 16:34, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

Black Orchid

Booster Gold #20

In Booster Gold vol. 2 #20 (July 2009), he meets and works alongside Frank Rock (Sgt. Rock) the leader of a 1950's iteration of the Squad which includes Karin Grace and Doctor Evan Hughs, Jeff Bright is also seen. the joker dies in the chopper to safe harly o wait he never died

Split members lists?

The article is rather weighed down with lists of the membership each time a new group formed. As with most articles on teams with a long history it is more usual to split the information off to a new article, with the important members mentioned in the body of the text, and this would help tighten this one up (see the most obvious example: List of Checkmate members). Italicized article title

The article title is currently in italics, which would refer to the comic book series. However, the lead section is about the Suicide Squad organization, the name of which should not be italicized, and mentions the eponymous series only tangentially.—Quick and Dirty User Account (talk) 22:22, 19 March 2014 (UTC)

Is Retcon Jargon or Argot?

I think maybe Retcon would be considered argot under the manual of style (WP:TONE). I didn't understand the word, so I followed the hyperlink. Argot is the "specialized informal vocabulary and terminology used between people in a field." Retcon seems like it fits this definition. You'd need to explain it in an average conversation to someone not familiar with the writing of books, scripts, or comics. With a movie coming out about the Suicide Squad, you'll find more folks without this knowledge visiting the page. I think it could be improved by re-writing to explain or remove this word. - ¢Spender1983 (talk) 19:20, 10 November 2014 (UTC)

WikiProject:Comics guidelines are very clear that we don't do extensive fictographies that encapsulate every story arc in detail. We're not fan sites. Original research

I have been cleaning out this article of what seems like play-by-play information, rephrasing awkward, run on sentences and neutralizing article tone. There appears to be a lot of original research here, which I'm trying to flag as "citation needed." There was an edit made on Feb 26th by 82.1.240.59 adding a section under Justice League vs Suicide Squad. This new add was several run-on sentences and did not include any citation, which seems like more original research. I've found another encyclopedia article, some of the contents of which appear word for word in this article. As a new Wikipedia editor, I have some concerns about whether this article can simply be cited, or if the contents need to be re-written or possibly removed. To be honest, I am confused as to wether the content is sourced from Wiki, or whether the Wikipedia article has been sourced from the World Library article. The closer I read through this article the more I'm finding the citations provided for some of the analysis, plot points or observations noted about the material are directly to the material itself, which appears to constitute original research. I'll focus on either sourcing those statements or removing them since, (again I'm new, trying to act in good faith) it seems Wiki says in WP:GOODREFS that (we) need to cite a source that directly supports the statement. Thanks for the pointer! To that end, for anyone else reading, I've started working through the "synopsis" sections to remove statements directly about the material which cited only to the material itself. Wikipedia's guideline on writing about fiction has helpful advice for cleaning up articles like this. It covers plot summaries, citing the work itself, and maintaining real-world perspective. It's sometimes difficult to find a good balance between summarizing the work and avoiding excessively-detailed plot summaries sourced exclusively to the work itself. Volume numbers

I've added a section for the 2020 relaunch of the Squad. I'm a bit confused by the volume numbers here. The previous version is listed as volume 5, so I have added the new one as volume 6, but the citations in the 2016-2019 version are said to be for volume 7. Which is right? Have things like the New Suicide Squad incremented one but not the other?Nickpheas (talk) 10:48, 8 July 2020 (UTC)
