Voter fraud

The few sources I browsed discuss Hotze only tangentially as the CEO of the group who hired the accused, and some went so far as to explicitly distance the former from the latter. It's pretty clear from news reports and law enforcement statement that Hotze's group hired Aguirre (among others) to "investigate." [1] Hotze himself confirmed at a press conference on December 16 that he had paid Aguirre, and he disputed that Aguirre had actually committed assault: [2] and while Hotze's lawyer says Hotze didn't direct any of the investigations, he was clearly funding the actions of Aguirre and others. From Salon:

"Jared Woodfill, an attorney and spokesman for Hotze, confirmed that Hotze's group hired Aguirre and about 20 private investigators to investigate fraud in the state.

"[Hotze] did not direct or lead any of the investigations," Woodfill told the Tribune, adding that Hotze instead sent tips to the investigators. "The [Liberty Center] employed the investigation team that looked into the allegations," Woodfill said.

Hotze launched a GoFundMe page to raise money for his "investigation" and claimed on Facebook that he had raised over $600,000 to "expose" the so-called scheme. The GoFundMe page showed that he had raised nearly $70,000 before the page was removed this week after questions from Business Insider. The company said the fundraiser violated its terms of service."[3]

I'd still argue that in the interests of the BLP policy we shouldn't be trying to tie Hotze to criminal activity until reliable sources explicitly do so. All we can say right now is that "Hotze's non-profit employed PERSON, who has been charged with THESE CRIMES." That reeks of undue reaching at this time. The article fails to inform readers that there is no evidence to substantiate Hotze's fraud claims. That's a clear NPOV violation, in particular a FRINGE vio. Snooganssnoogans (talk) 19:13, 21 December 2020 (UTC)

The article doesn't discuss Hotze's fraud claims, therefore needing to refute nothing. In fact, the word "fraud" doesn't appear in the prose at all. With regards to this article's subject, the newest source (2020-12-20 Washington Post) has only the line "[Hotze] also claimed, without elaboration, that the investigation had blocked a Democratic fraud scheme that would have otherwise flipped Texas to Democrat Joe Biden." The article does indeed cover this man's nonsensical fraud claims. Except, after your edits (which removed text that adhered to the cited RS), it now presents his baseless fraud claims as having veracity, thus misinforming readers and flagrantly violating WP:FRINGE. The Washington Post literally says he is the president of a group that makes unsubstantiated claims of voter fraud. You removed that, and replaced it with text that claims that his group "investigates" "possibly-unlawful" acts of fraud. Your edits should be reverted ASAP. The article does indeed cover this man's nonsensical fraud claims. The word "fraud" did not appear in the prose of the last edit I made. The Washington Post literally says […] The Washington Post does say those things, but that publication does not say that "Hotze made these specific claims of fraud", only that the organization he founded, did. Some of your edits were fine, but some of your edits and removals were not, as I explained in my edit summary here. I agree with @Snooganssnoogans: that we need to make crystal clear (as the sources do) that the claims of election fraud were bogus. Neutrality^talk 03:31, 22 December 2020 (UTC)

Indictment date

Reword intro?

This edit says that the current wording of the article is non-neutral (in particular describing Hotze as a conspiracy theorist and using language that is not supportive of the conservative perspective on some divisive issues).
