AI-generated image edit

@LilianaUwU recently removed File:DALL-E Sofie Dossi handstand.png from the infobox. I won't add it back myself, but I'd like to lay out my thoughts briefly. While Wikipedia's Image use policy § AI-generated images says not to use AI-generated images because of copyright concerns, there is a fair amount of AI generated media on Commons that seems to be acceptable, and the guidance there does not in my reading rule out hosting this file. The value of the image would be to illustrate what kind of contortion she does (and I just think it's neat), and there's no free alternative I can find online so far. This is being discussed at Wikipedia:No_original_research/Noticeboard#AI_images_of_real_people. And I'd like to clarify the significant distinction between "can we do this?" and "should we do this?". Copyrights aside, this is a matter of "should we?", and I say no. People are free to Google the person and find plenty of images. Wikipedia isn't the only source on Earth. --Animalparty! Thanks for the link, I wasn't pinged. I realize now in hindsight that it's just not a good illustration for wiki's purposes. Hameltion (talk | contribs) 19:46, 28 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
I'll echo @AndyTheGrump's point on WP:NORN: Presenting an AI-generated image as that of a real person is simple falsification, and thus entirely contrary to multiple existing Wikipedia policies. To me, using AI art to represent someone is something I don't understand, especially when the person is still alive, leaving opportunities for actual free portraits.
