Removed Vietnam event

I have removed the following line because I haven't been able to find any verification. It was entered on Dec 2nd by User:219.65.123.102 (this IP's only edit):

• 1945 - In South Vietnam, 1400 French soldiers released by the British from former Japanese internment camps enter Saigon and go on a deadly rampage, attacking Viet Minh and killing innocent civilians including children, aided by French civilians who joined the rampage.

Why was Hobbit Day removed?

It is celebrated by a small amount of people but it is a September 22nd holiday. As it ties into 2 very famous literary character it should remain.

Because it is celbrated by a small amount of people, and no official body on the planet recognises it as a holiday. If you take the day off from work, it comes out of your personal vacation time. Average Earthman 13:47, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

Sorry, where is the amount of people stated in WP:V? Additionally, meta:Wiki is not paper. I don't have a problem excluding Hobbit Day as a "holiday" but I see very little reason why it excluded from this page... Cburnett 05:14, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

Honestly, I think the day should not be placed in Holidays and observances. At first, of course, I doubted about the day. But when I saw the foundation of the date, 1970s, I thought that hmm, maybe this day should be placed in September 22 Holidays and observances. But when I saw the paragraph that mentions about the controversy regarding the day, whether September 22, September 15, or September 12; that is the proof that the day is not notable and should not be placed in September 22. --Rochelimit (talk) 22:15, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

In my ~12 seconds of searching I've found nothing to support that satan is or was ever deemed a saint nor that he has a feast recognised by any catholic church.

World Car Free Day!

Ive always thought Septermber 22 was the World Car Free Day (you know, a day to have a collective reminder that we don't have to accept car-dominated societies, cities, or personal lives and all that jazz).

I will add that back. Originally it is called Car-Free Day, celebrated by solely the Pan-European community, and Canada. This original Car-Free Day has ever since celebrated on September 22 by Europe and Canada. This same observance has been featured two times in Wikipedia's main page (and even in my calendar almanac), although, always with very minimal description, so I'm always not very sure whether to put the day in September 22 or not. 2010, and the day is featured again in Main page, with the observers: Europe and Canada, so now I'm sure that I have to put Car-Free Day in September 22.

The name World Car-Free Day is rather new for me. It was always called 'Car-Free Day' only, until suddenly, there's a 'World' in front of it. I think this should be questioned, and the fact that there's a lack of "Europe and Canada observers" explanation in Car-Free Days article, so I think somebody ought to edit this article focusing more on the foundation of the day. --Rochelimit (talk) 22:04, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

Latvian festivals

Yet another Latvian festival. Why do these keep appearing when the Latvian mythology page has been disputed (and not corrected) for years? The linked page (Miķeļi) has no supporting citations, so what distinguishes this from just another of those Fictional Events that Barek talks about (above)? Change the CERN "discovery"

Could someone please change the "In 2011 the CERN scientists announced"-bit. It wasn't a discovery at all. It was a malfunction in the eqipment. They did announce the discovery. That's true. David Stern

Presently, David Stern is listed as "American lawyer and businessman". While that may be accurate, he is EASILY best known as the long-time commissioner of the National Basketball Association. I edited the entry to reflect this, but it was reverted. Listing Stern as American lawyer and businessman would be like calling Michael Jordan a minor league baseball player -- accurate, but woefully misleading. Ronaldo birthday?
