Over to TLs everywhere edit

Graduate students at Wayne State University worked on this entry. The article is in need of contributions from TLs across the world to capture different school library perspectives. Such information would really benefit readers and would be best provided by local experts. I heartily agree that this piece is very US-centric and strongly encourage all TLs to share their realities. I know our collected wisdom can triumph over lacking and mistaken information Mmardis (talk) 02:46, 7 December 2008 (UTC)M.A, MardisReply

I want to comment on a previous edit made by Londonr20 on Feb. 20, 2008. This was a major addition to the original school library article. I helped to work on this revision while enrolled in a university library course. This revision introduces some of the major concepts and ideas that are now informing the field of school librarianship. This addition is not plagiarized from another source, but represents the original writing of the students in the library class. However, it is informed by the research, as we had to conduct an extensive research review during the semester. We worked on compiling the article using a class wiki, which explains some of the formatting marks left over in the Wikipedia article.

One thing that might be helpful are more extensive footnotes throughout this article. However, I would like to say that this information is highly valuable, and footnotes can be readily obtained to document various thinkers who have investigated the ideas.

Nobody disagrees with any of your points. The problems are, your additions read like a scholarly paper or magazine article, not an encyclopedia. For instance, you cannot address readers in the second person, or assume that all your readers are involved in the American school system. You also need to back up your facts with footnotes and wikilinks. I have no truck with your article, but you need to read through the wikipedia rules of style before submitting. I hope this does not discourage you, as you really have done some fine research. Bkatcher (talk) 01:07, 25 February 2008 (UTC) (school librarian)Reply

Americentric edit

Wow, this is the most heavily biased article i've seen in over 2 years. It deals entirely with school libraries as they apply in secondary education in the united states. There are no references and sweeping US specific generalisations. I've tried to remove some of the more obviously US specific areas but it still needs a lot of work. --Brideshead (talk) 19:34, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I noticed that this has very few links and my eyes hurt when reading source code, Could someone else do this for me. Bobbitybob69 (talk) 17:57, 10 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

It's a small library that circulates within a school or school district. Bkatcher (talk) 21:49, 7 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
