Similarly, the second port of spain moving ship and loaded into cars, only surpassed by the Port of Algeciras Bay. Has the largest metropolitan area in the Canary Islands, on its two main cities (Santa Cruz and San Cristobal de La Laguna). You can check the version in Spanish: http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Cruz_de_Tenerife and http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%81rea_metropolitana_de_Santa_Cruz_de_Tenerife-La_Laguna

No, is not. Your source said nothing about it, second sources [1] says something else: Las Palmas - 884km², Santa Cruz - 739km². Inter-man (talk) 14:12, 26 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
No, wrong, watch it on the page in Spanish.

Quote from article: "It also has the metropolitan area most densely populated of the Canary Islands to 1156.33 m/km ² (Santa Cruz de Tenerife -La Laguna)". This is wrong. Las Palmas (381,123 peoples on 100,55 km²) and adjacent Telde (99,201 peoples on 102,43 km²) is 480,324 peoples on 202,98 km². Density of population: 2366.36 hab /km². Please, stop magnify the importance of metropolitan area of Santa Cruz. Inter-man (talk) 20:36, 5 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Someone is changing the metropolitan area. The largest metropolitan area in the Canary Islands Santa Cruz de Tenerife, you can check the verification page in Spanish wikipedia: http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%81rea_metropolitana_de_Santa_Cruz_de_Tenerife-La_Laguna

Says:

The metropolitan area of Las Palmas is the most populated, but the biggest (in size) is the metropolitan area Santa Cruz-La Laguna. Note that the covers 5 municipalities Las Palmas (284.5 km of area in total), and Santa Cruz de Tenerife the covers 6 municipalities (366.85 km in total area).

metropolitan area edit

Spanish Wikipedia has again given me the reason, Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the largest metropolitan area, and the most populous Palmas. Even blocked the page so that you no longer handled, you can check yourself: http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tenerife —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.35.207.199 (talk) 11:03, 21 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Until the Wikipedia article in Spanish has been blocked and continues in the largest metropolitan area (in size, extent) is that of Santa Cruz de Tenerife: http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%81rea_metropolitana_de_Santa_Cruz_de_Tenerife-La_Laguna

Please, I'm just giving a figure, no attempt to deceive anyone, nor your enemy, and e data provided more than sufficient, and in Spanish wikipedia gives me the reason. Be fair —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.36.123.174 (talk) 19:42, 21 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Capital of Tenerife edit

Shouldn't the article begin by saying that Santa Cruz is the capital of Tenerife? One has to drill down into the first paragraph before this is revealed. The opening few sentences are kind of confusing and labyrinthine. Looking above it would appear that there's some sort of debate taking place as to how populous Santa Cruz is: one imagines that this is why the introduction to the article begins by splitting hairs about the amount of people that live there. To the reader this is muddy and not at all straightforward. Have a look again at the intro: in my opinion, it's something of a mess. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.182.167.39 (talk) 17:06, 24 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Pictures edit

My reasons for changing the pictures. In the Picture of the Museum (File:Museodelanaturalezayelhombre01.jpg now File:Antiguo Hospital.jpg) you saw just an unimportant part of the impressive building. The Picture of the Plaza de España (File:Tenerife2005 056.jpg now File:Plaza de España 03.jpg) was taken before the redesign by Herzog & de Meuron. The picture of the Parliament (File:Santa Cruz Parlamento de Canarias fcm.jpg now File:Parlamento 02.jpg) seems to me a bit to grey. (In Tenerife we do not have sun every day – but nearly.) The same reason for the fountain of Plaza Weyler (File:Santa Cruz Brunnen auf der Plaza Weyler fcm.jpg now File:Weyler 01.jpg) an other reason for changing this photo is, this picture is a bit blurred. My English is not good enough to write an article so I just deliver some pictures of the “Exposición Internacional de Escultura en la Calle“ and a link to this exhibition.( http://takingaline.hortweek.com/2011/10/09/international-exhibition-of-sculpture-of-santa-cruz-50-years-on/) --koppchen (talk) 10:32, 12 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Official Climate data for 1981-2010 is available to download for all of spain. http://www.aemet.es/en/conocermas/publicaciones/detalles/guia_resumida_2010 I hope, noone has a problem with me updating it here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.150.49.186 (talk) 15:06, 26 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Confusing statements edit

What should readers make of the following statements written in a row? "Santa Cruz has a population of 206,593 (2013) within its administrative limits.[3] The urban zone of Santa Cruz extends beyond the administrative city limits with a population of 507,306.[5] This is the main city on the island of Tenerife with a population of nearly 1 million."

The last sentence is clearly wrong unless the editor's intention was to remark that the island of Tenerife has a population of 1 million.

It's all very confusing. There´s a sort of desperate attempt to picture Santa Cruz as something of a winner in every sense. This trend detracts from the NPOV Wikipedia criterion and renders some sections of the article banal and far-fetched.
