Hadlee Stand edit

Is the stand named after him? Or after the Hadlee family? - Shudda talk 07:56, 13 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

(batting) "oddly enough, left-handed" edit

Not so odd. Cricketers who bat and bowl opposite-handed are extremely common - he shares this particular combination with, among others, Marcus Trescothick, Mark Butcher, Graham Thorpe (all occasional bowlers, admittedly), Clive Lloyd, Brian Close, Graham Dilley, Chris Old, David Gower (insofar as Gower bowled at all), Bill O'Reilley, and that's enough off the top of my head. It may even be that left/left is the rarest combination of all.Captain Pedant 14:56, 8 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Captaincy edit

Someone more knowledgeable than me could explain why he was never made captain Of New Zealand. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.87.84.40 (talk) 17:49, 29 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have the impression he wasn't considered a great team player. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.225.26.33 (talk) 08:23, 3 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Suicide Attempt edit

Saw an article in cricinfo (http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/magazine/content/current/story/337858.html) about his suicide attempt and was surprised not to find that information in this article —Preceding unsigned comment added by Eramesan (talkcontribs) 02:14, 25 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

That article dosn't seem to say that he actually attemtped suicide, it could be read as saying he had thought about it. We'd need something a lot stronger, and more detailed (when, why?) to be able to treat it proeprly. The book itself may well include that information of course. "Cargate" edit

Was the incident known as that at the time, or is it, as I suspect, an anachronism? The vogue for calling every scandal -gate seems to be much more recent. Do any RS use the term? --Dweller (talk) 05:59, 2 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Didn't see a single Google result for Hadlee and cargate, only result I found was at Tripod.com. Being unsourced/negative I've removed the car portion, and kept the not-talking-to-Coney part for which I did find a couple of reasonable references. The car portion can be restored if a satisfactory reference can be found, per WP:BLP. XLerate (talk) 01:51, 3 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
I remember it being mentioned in the newspapers in India, but don't remember it being called 'cargate' or anything. Tintin 03:47, 3 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
I strongly suspect anachronism. Thanks chaps. --Dweller (talk) 12:24, 3 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
