this upper NY state county is about to become quite famous - AP newswire reports 2008 presidential ballots for this county have error, "Barack Osama" instead of "Barack Obama" -- D & R reps both say "sorry" but don't say what the error was in their statements. -- (source: AP article, 10/10/2008) nexus in Seattle/WA

I posted the following comment to the Rensselaer, New York article's Talk section as well: There's no source given (as far as I can see) for where the pronunciation in this article came from. While /rɛnsəˈlɪər/ does appear in online dictionaries such as Random House's, residents of the area appear to favor /'rɛnsələr/.
