"The" edit

"also referred to as The Railroad Gazette"—this is a poor use of sourcing. The sources cited don't say that the journal was referred to as The Railroad Gazette, they refer to it as The Railroad Gazette. These are obvious inconsequential errors that don't need to be drawn attention to. Curly Turkey 🍁 ¡gobble! 23:12, 13 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Actually, the publication referred to itself as Railroad Gazette, (see File:Railroad Gazette cover 1904.png) while others included the prefix "The". I feel that is is more factually accurate to include this, rather than omit it. North America1000 00:37, 14 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
I don't think you understand what I wrote. The name of the publication is Railroad Gazette, and the fact that other publications mistakenly refer to it in passing as The Railroad Gazette is (a) irrelevant (b) not what the sources say. This is not how sourcing works. Curly Turkey 🍁 ¡gobble! 00:41, 14 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Happy to review. Sainsf <^>Feel at home 12:40, 20 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

  • Lead:
  • I don't think we need citations in the lead unless we are making controversial claims.
  • It was established and first published in April 1856 I feel it would be better to add this fact to the first line, the period of its run looks significant enough to deserve a mention there.
  • Content:
  • We should start with the introductory facts as in the lead.
  • I think we should add something on what this journal used to report in the lead.
  • Another publication of the same name Railroad Gazette... I think this should go somewhere in the main text.
  • This may actually be best left in the lead. For example, if people go to the article looking for information about the other publication that was established in Rogersville, Tennessee, they will immediately be able to see that this article is about a different topic. Rest looks good. Just ensure that the article has been expanded as far as possible. Cheers! Sainsf <^>Feel at home 12:40, 20 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the changes. I feel this article is ready for promotion. Great job! Sainsf <^>Feel at home 07:03, 21 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
